THE Socceroos were robbed of an epic World Cup qualifying win in Japan by a heartbreaking stoppage time penalty.

Australia was two minutes away from pinching an unlikely three points that would*ve gone a long way to securing qualification for Brazil 2014 before Matt McKay handballed in the penalty area.

Star Keisuke Honda stepped up and drilled the ball straight and high, out of the reach of Mark Schwarzer to secure a 1-1 draw and send the 62,172 crowd at Saitama Stadium into frenzy with the point securing Japan a place at next year*s World Cup.

The Socceroos fate will now be determined when they host their final two group games against Jordan (June 11 in Melbourne) and Iraq (June 18 in Sydney), with both opponents a chance of qualifying.

With Japan already confirmed, only one other team will qualify automatically while third place faces a nervy playoff against third-place in Asia*s other group and then fifth-place from South America.

We play too cleanly. 8 Years ago (I think) we got beaten by Italy in the Quarter final by one of the player acting "princess" to claim a foul when there was no contact. Bloody cheats. We need to play dirty like the rest of them.

Italy went on to win.... a real opportunity missed due to Italian scumbags cheating.

Not sure of that at all. there was contact with the ball but looked like the prick just fell over without real contact at all. He could have jumped over the leg remained on his feet and not dived.

If I was ref all these cheats would be yellow carded then red carded soon fix the game up.
It is against the spirit of the game to do these things and a ref can card you for doing them.
