Re: My Word.........le
Checked out chess site Bobby, there's just so much going on and the interface is a bit hard on the eyes, reminds me of the Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths...whereby over time, another extension, or platform keeps getting added on, and you need to be familiar with the base, the fundamental structure/hub to begin with inorder to navigate the site. ( I'm new, and felt lost)
Looks fantastic tho, and worth getting on board, just will need a whole day to delve into it to know what to start with and where.
It's not just a chess game link, it's forums within forums like a labyrinth. Lol
I don't mind this , just a busy time of year for me, probably better for when school goes back and or when I can jump online without distractions.
The NYT and Lingle links were great because it was simple to navigate to and once you explained the rules to me, the rest was very straightforward.
Have you tried any other games, like their 7 letter version of wordle? I wondered if having more or less letters would make it easier or harder?

Brilliant Bobby, are we allowed to use dictionary or not?
I want to play fair so...
It's just the one above mentioned that I used a dictionary with, which turned out wasn't even required. Was a regular word.
I won't use one until you confirm either way.
I'll go try my luck with today's puzzle now.

There are no rules.
I suppose if you got help you could say so?

Re: My Word.........le
Well Bobby, I have decided not to use help/dictionarys, because this means it's over and done with too quickly. No joy!
I don't mind if others do however. The words are so simple in wordles, it's pointless using a dictionary, because many words can fit, just depends on what word comes to your own mind first and or if it happens to be what the setter chose.
Anyway I decided to use "SALET" as my own starting word today, as I was impressed by your 2nd row defeat and wanted to see how you got there so quickly.
I chose Fable, maple then of course, eagle. So this is an example of this game being as much about luck as logic because all words chosen could have fit. I find with certain crossword setters when doing cryptics, you get an idea for their style which helps. Do you find this with wordles too Bobby, like for example, the NYT setter prefers nouns/verbs to adjectives and so forth?
I can't see how you would, because they're all pretty straightforward. The 7 letter ones aren't anymore difficult, but that was my first one, so I can hardly speak from experience here, only started doing them a week ago lol .

The word salet was recommended by some article I read as giving the best possible results.
It doesn't always go so well.
There are many other good words to use for the first word or to find a second word.
I use this list to help me:

arise
unity
audio
chard
steed
great
gumbo
raise
belie
acute
imbue
pouty
count
choke
globe
cloud
hound
canoe
enemy

crumb
pious
