Maybe they are (from owner's perspective), and maybe they're just status symbols.
I only met the owner 3 times.
Must admit I envied his dog bath set up (in the garage/shed where dgs were caged).
Had constant flow from small pump and a heater element.

Been a fair bit in the local rag up here about the Greyhounds.
A mass grave with 50 Greyhound bodies was found near Coonar beach.
The owner and a woman implicated have been charged and faced a mention in court.
The owner was charged with Animal Cruelty because he'd shot each dog in the head with a .22.
Personally I don't like the fact he just disposed of his dogs when he didn't want them anymore, but I don't consider shooting in the head a cruelty. Shooting in the head is generally the legal, ethical and humane way to kill an animal. I think they should have used another charge (if available) because despite his deplrable motives, he could get off.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
