The chance of detection and ability to overpower the offender is much greater when they're not carrying an arsenal of assault weapons and body armour so that they can just walk through the front gate and open up with hundreds of rounds a minute.
You reckon? I carried an SKK (7.62X39mm) and Mossberg 590 (12 guage slugster/riot-gun) in a PVC tube wrapped in a blue tarp (so it looked like a tent) on the Sydney rail system from the Illawarra line to the end of the East Hills line and was never challenged. Days later I transported about 1200 rounds via the same route, and never got looked at.
That's my point... guns are easy to get, transport, and if discovered, they're immediately ready to return fire, unlike a candle and a gas canister.

Restricting the publics' access to weapons gives the crim's gun more power and condemns the public to victimhood.

The gun lobby's catchcry "When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns" is quite true.
First of all, it's not the crims who commit these massacres... crims are (more or less) sane. These massacres are committed by disaffected people who, up until a psychotic break, have been normals. Totally sane, totally able to either get a gun (when they're available to all without restriction) or can easily access someone else's guns (if they're not forced to secure them).

Secondly, the more guns in circulation, and the fewer rules there are to force people to secure them, the more likely it is for crims to be able to access them. Unless you're going to carry a gun around, 24/7, there's no predicting when someone is going to turn up. Not. worth. the. fucking. hassle.

And besides... what type of a society is it, where you need (yes, need) to be good with a gun to be safe. Fuck that for a joke.

Ps. I don't include Bikie gangs in that.
Couldn't honestly remember when I heard of a case, but then I spend most of my time without modern media most of the time these days .. as for myself, there's been at least 4 occasions (I remember off hand) I've used fire arms for self defence, although that includes Mexican stand-offs where nothing really happened .. so I can relate to the phrase 'I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it' .. most if not all of that was outlaw club/bikie gang related.

A case I remember from at least 10 years ago was where an 80 year old in the shade South Australian bloke who'd been broken into and bashed 6 times by the same character, was arrested for murder or manslaughter when he shot the 16 year old home invader on his 7th raid. The judiciary and constabulary let him go quick smart when the public outcry regarding the injustice got cranking.

Wouldn't know how many kill in self defense, but I do know the next time I hurt an individual forcing their way into my dwelling, I won't give them first aid, ring an ambulance, or the police. If there's a next time, I'll just dispose of them and say nothing.

I would presume many if not most incidences of self defense with a firearm would go unreported .. not worth the drama that comes with being the conscientious citizen.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

I'd presume it doesn't happen very often if at all.
Especially with law abiding citizens and that is the vast majority.

The gun lobby has blamed the Newtown massacre on video games and not guns which makes as much sense as not blaming cigarettes for lung cancer ... yet a huge chunk of the American population swallowed this talking point whole.

Yet another reason not to play with guns.

Savannah Ramirez was posing with a loaded handgun for a series of Facebook pictures on New Years Eve when she fatally shot her brother Manuel Ortiz in the head. He was just 22.
The Phoenix, AZ residents had spent much of the evening drinking with friends before returning back to Manuel’s apartment. According to the Daily Mail, there are multiple pictures on Manuel and Savannah’s respective Facebook pages of them making gang signs and posing with guns.

See...for some Americans, having guns is a bonus for us all.

The American vagina is more heavily regulated than American firearms.

Maybe they need to add a "right to bare vaginas" in their constitution?

That would be the perfect 28th amendment and would cover all women's rights.
