Croatia v England

England 4-2 Croatia

Bummer!

Did you see Harry Kane today?  - I did on TV this morning - good match.

Harry Kane, who is 32 years old, will earn an Estimated Gross Fixed Salary of €25000000 for the 2025-2026 Season,
or €480769 per week, excluding bonuses.

England got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start in chaotic fashion after a Harry Kane brace powered Thomas Tuchel's side to a 4-2 win over Croatia.

The 32-year-old opened the scoring from the spot in the 12th minute having been given a reprieve for an initially saved effort -- as an encroachment allowed him to make no mistake second time round. Croatia got level through a superb Martin Baturina strike, but Kane restored the English advantage from a corner.

And while Petar Musa breached the back line to slot home to send Croatia into the break level, it was Jude Bellingham's solo effort, in off the post, that rescued the Three Lions just moments after the restart. The rest of the second half was heavily in England's favour without a cutting edge,, before Marcus Rashford sealed the points off the bench with just minutes to play.

By Tuchel's lofty standards, the performance will leave plenty to be dissected back in Kansas, particularly at the back -- but the side's greatest ever goalscorer finding a brace will prove to be one potential worry crossed off his list.

Kane, who took his total for the season to 69 goals after a remarkable campaign at club level, moved to 17 in major international tournaments -- and levelled Gary Lineker's 10 World Cup goals for his country.

My biggest wish is that the Socceroos beat the USA tomorrow morning and put that pathetic little weasel Mark Grella back in his box and well and truly buried.

GO THE SOCCEROOS!

GO THE SOCCEROOS!

The USA team is worth €385.6m

The Aussie team is worth €77.45m

so we are way down in net worth and skill on the list:

It will be hard to win.

See the French team - the top team:
€1.52bn

Who cares? That changes constantly.

The USA is ranked 15 and Australia is ranked 22. The Socceroos most certainly CAN beat the USA and I sincerely hope they do!

GO THE SOCCEROOS!!!

We lost 2 nil. Even an own goal. I'm crying.

We played like halfwits - bad crosses in front of goal and
even good crosses wasted.

Turkey is out of the world cup -
they failed to score even a single goal - what losers!

AI Overview

Turkey is officially eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dismal group-stage exit without scoring a single goal.
They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Australia in their opener,
followed by a disappointing 1-0 loss to a 10-man Paraguay side on June 20.

Match 1 (vs. Australia): Fell 2-0 in Vancouver despite dominating large stretches of possession.

Match 2 (vs. Paraguay): Conceded in the 2nd minute to Matías Galarza.
Despite Miguel Almirón's red card leaving Paraguay a man down just before half time,
Turkey failed to capitalize on the advantage, wasting numerous chances and eventually going scoreless.

An own goal in the 10th minute wasn't what we wanted lol. It gave the US the lead they needed even though we totally dominated the second half.

Oh well. Onward and upward. We can still progress to the knockout stages whether we beat Paraguay or not.
