Yanks Invade Chinese consulate

Post by Bobby » Sat Jul 25, 2020 4:45 pm

Is this war?
Wow - this is big news -
normally consulates are exempt from any entry and diplomatic immunity applies.

Will China see it as an act of war?

Washington (CNN)US federal agents and local law enforcement entered the Chinese consulate compound in Houston Friday afternoon following Tuesday's order to close the diplomatic facility after US officials alleged it was part of a larger Chinese espionage effort using diplomatic facilities around the US.
A series of black SUVs, trucks, two white vans and a locksmith's van entered the property as a crowd of observers and news cameras observed from the edge of the diplomatic compound.
US officials speaking to reporters Friday said the consulate had been implicated in a fraud investigation at a Texas research institution and that Chinese consulate officials, "were directly involved in communications with researchers and guided them on what information to collect."

China will stop at nothing in their pursuit to control a vaccine for the virus and their endless theft of intellectual property.

The staff had left after their 72 hour deadline. The US had every right to do what they did.
Senior US officials said on Friday espionage activity by China's diplomatic missions was occurring all over the country, but its activity out of the Houston consulate went well over the line of what was acceptable.

A senior State Department official also linked espionage activity from that consulate to China's pursuit of research into a vaccine for the new coronavirus.

I hope they raid the San Francisco consulate as well.
The FBI alleges that a biology researcher who lied about her connection to the Chinese military in order to receive a U.S. visa has avoided arrest by taking refuge in the Chinese consulate in San Francisco.

Hi BO,
Jesus Christ -
we have the US navy making trouble in the China seas
and now the US is invading their consulates.
This is a prelude to war.
Remember you heard it first from Bobby.

Also - ScoMo says that any Covid-19 vaccine research should be open to everyone.

South China Sea tinderbox:

China confronts Australian Navy - world braces for wrong move
TENSIONS between China and Australia have heightened after Beijing confronted the Australian Navy in the highly disputed South China Sea.

Last week, five Australian warships and the Chinese Navy engaged in a stand-off following a confrontation in the South China Sea. Australian vessels were sailing close to the Spratly Islands, which are claimed by Beijing, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

According to ABC, the warships were on an exercise in the region ahead of military war games off Hawaii with the US and Japan when they were confronted by Chinese vessels.

The Australian Defence Ministry said: “Unplanned interactions with foreign warships throughout the deployment were conducted in a safe and professional manner.

“Australia is committed to a secure, open, prosperous and resilient Indo-Pacific region.

“We routinely work with regional partners to address shared security challenges.

Bobby the US did not 'invade' China's consulate. They were given notice and the staff had left. There will be tit for tat from China of course.

Covid vaccine should be available to everyone that doesn't mean the Chinese can just steal it to claim as their own.

As for the South China Sea, China has no legal claim to it. It's an international trade route and needs to remain that way. China has warships there. Should we all just bow down to them so they can control international trade and build more military islands?
Australia has raised the stakes in its already troubled relationship with China by backing the United States in formally declaring Beijing's territorial claims in the South China Sea to be illegal.

In a letter to the United Nations, Australia's permanent mission rejected the Chinese Communist Party's claim to disputed islands in the crucial trading waters, calling them "inconsistent" with international law.

"The Australian Government rejects any claims by China that are inconsistent with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), in particular, maritime claims that do not adhere to its rules on baselines, maritime zones and classification of features.," the document states.

Even Albanese backs ScoMo on this as he well should.

Hi Bo,
I agree with what you've written.
Invade was used loosely as a term.
