The European refugee crisis

Post by mantra » Tue Sep 08, 2015 6:11 am

A liberal MP has suggested we offer asylum to 50,000 Syrians - isn' t that the intake we had under Labor, albeit involuntarily?

Julie Bishop is talking about bombing Syria to halt ISIS - an impulsive reaction and one which would result in more innocent deaths and refugees. Haven't we learnt yet that targeting and killing one enemy can result in the death of hundreds of innocent people?

Most of the refugees would probably be genuine, but the recent drowning of the little boy (exploited in the media) was the end result of a father who wasn't in danger and wanted free dental treatment. His wife and two children were drowned in this perilous voyage across the Aegean Sea so he could get his teeth fixed for free.

It's hard to figure out which refugees are genuine. We not only have to cope with thousands of 457 visa holders who are taking our jobs while unemployment escalates and many Australians live in serious poverty, but we are being forced to share what little we have left at the sacrifice of our own families so the politicians can look benevolent on the world stage.

I don't know what the solution is - only that we need to look after our own people properly first. I feel for the refugees, but the world is becoming one impoverished melting pot where only the wealthy thrive - the rest of us are mere numbers in a long queue of foreigners vying for services and jobs and even that's an uneven playing field now with foreign workers accepting lower wages which Australian workers can't compete with.

Thanks Mantra for this topic.

Greece, as we all know, is bankrupt.

Yet, it's taking in these refugees every day. No govt assistance exists --> people are helping people.

Something needs to be done. This can't continue.

While I don't like taking refugees I suggest we have a responsibility to the people from countries we choose to bomb and go to war with.

The west has handle this whole region badly and this has led to the rise if ISIS.

Let's be really clear. ISIS want to take over the whole world and impose their laws and religion on all. They must be stopped. They will be worse than Hitler if they gain enough momentum and they are gaining momentum.

The only other chose is to let the civilians all die. We try to gain and maintain the high moral ground.

I fear this is just the beginning with the west growing fast with low skilled migrants changing the social and economic structures of our societies. Just as you pointed out Mantra. It's not good.

We should have had the balls to put men on the ground and move house by house through all of Syria and Iraq wiping out these guys with the same gusto we had when we did the Normandy landings and started our move to Berlin.

We cannot turn our backs on the mess we created. This is the consequence of poor policies, lack of balls and not letting our military do the job they way they would want to. That is..... politics and bad policies.

It is the politicians who decide who we go to war with but it is the people who are subjected to the fallout.

The changing socio economic structures of the west is only just beginning and is likely to be driven more downhill than we could ever imagine.

Maybe we should be fighting wars more like our grand parents did. Maybe then we will go full circle and produce a generation of capable thinkers and politicians who will act in ways that are best for the people they are supposed to lead instead of this politically correct mish mash of whinging do-gooders who will ultimately bring about the demise of life as we know it.

How's this for a long term tactic. You need to think like these guys.

Refugees come to our countries and start demanding their ways on our institutions, schools, shops ...etc. We are so soft, we will be all converted without knowing.

Then infiltrate our policies systems, become the majority and win and control our countries, start changing the laws.....

Hell will break lose.

I say....

The guy whose wife and 2 children drowned was already in Greece. He (or his sister) paid "people smugglers" to transport his family from safety in Turkey to Greece in a dinghy! His aim was to get to somewhere that he could fly off to Canada to get his new "teeth". What a man! I note that he was able to get back to Syria for his family's funeral! Who paid for that?

Most of the "hoards" of "refugees" are country-shopping. Somehow they have deduced that Germany has the best welfare system in Europe! Most were safe enough in Turkey. There have been passports and IDs thrown away and everyone is saying their birthday is 1 January and probably that their name is Mohammed. :rofl ISIS has already said that they have several thousand people amongst the hoards.

I gather that the UN has Refugee Camps of Syrian people in various countries, including Turkey. Germany is crazy taking in all these misfits. We definitely don't want hoards of "refugees" who have paid good money to people smugglers arriving here on leaky boats. We will take in our fair SHARE of those TRUE refugees who have been waiting, patiently, in a Refugee Camps for some years.

Oh dear more crap... we aren't targeting civillians, and we aren't killing them.
Most of the refugees would probably be genuine, Really? prove it... but the recent drowning of the little boy (exploited in the media) was the end result of a father who wasn't in danger and wanted free dental treatment.
