When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
Sounds like typical rightard idealogical nonsense.

I doubt that has been proposed by anyone.

Name a country where that actually exists, I doubt there is one even China or Russia people still have to work.

at the end of the day red... who is constantly calling for the dole to be doubled?????? and who do you think will carry that burden????..

because yes welfare is a burden on all those who work....when you want to make life easier for people NOT TO WORK.....is it fair to those who do work???????
Well i am a taxpayer cods and I am happy to pay extra so the poor buggers on the dole can survive with a bit of dignity and not have to get grocery handouts from charities.

Regarding this socialism nonsense espoused by DreamRyder,

I think he should stop looking at his navel and have a look at other countries like the UK, Germany. France Most of western Europe, Canada , Australia, New Zealand etc, does he class them as socialist countries because they dont treat their people badly having to rely on tips to supplement their wages and mostly have Universal Health Care etc.

The best countries lie somewhere in the middle with some good social policies rather than a few percent having all the wealth and the other 90+% the left over dregs.

I'm all for aiding those who cannot fend for themselves, but the lazy and stupid need to learn from their mistakes and not expect me to bail them out. I avoided drugs and kids I couldn't afford. I worked my way through college and supported a family while not using government money and paying a lot of taxes. They get enough of my income. I'll never vote for another tax increase. They are already getting close to 1/2 of my income.

Mind your own business, Brian, and coming from someone (you) who praises Yassmin Abdel-Magied and her ilk.
You of course have evidence of that, don't you, Black Orchid?

Here is a spot you can quote it:

As usual, you'll ignore this post and slink away. Typical Tory tactic. Tsk, tsk. :roll :roll

Ah, I find it interesting your comment about a "lot of taxes", Tex. I assume you have a figure that constitutes a "lot"? Of course I hope you're differentiating between Federal and State Taxes? I am aware that like most things in the US the Tax system is as crazy as everything else. Downunder, the States lost the right to impose taxes on wages/salaries and the Federal Government was granted it instead in 1942. We also have Pay As You Go taxation - the money is automatically removed from peoples' wages by their employer and paid to the Federal Government. Tax time is about claiming back various allowances for most Australians. Basically the States receive a grant from the Feds to make up their lose of revenue. The Feds here are responsible for all social security payments.

We have federal income, state income, property, school, sales, and fuel taxes. Some states, like Texas, don't have an income tax but they get you other ways. On top of that, I'm paying $13k/year for my family's health coverage. I don't feel like paying for the lazy.
$10-12k for Federal Tax
$8-10k for Social Security
$4-5k for property taxes
8.25% sales tax in Texas ($6k?)
$3k for school taxes
fuel tax is about $.46/gallon

I'm sure there are others.

No one is suggesting you should, Tex. How do you know all unemployed are "lazy" with such certainty? Mmmm? :roll

Unemployment coverage is an insurance deducted from paychecks. I have no problem with them. I'm talking about people who spend their whole life soaking the taxpayers. People who have kids they can't support, druggies, deadbeats, and able bodied people who sponge off of the system.

So you blame people for their addiction, do you? Does that include people who unwittingly become addicted to such things as Opiod Painkillers? I agree that people who can't support kids shouldn't have them but what about if they come unemployed after they have the children they thought they could support? What a by your definition, "deadbeats"? I'm just wondering if your hard hearted to all people... :roll

He's not talking about what you are trying to imply so stop always being so disingenuous. It's pretty obvious the types he is talking about and I also don't believe in supporting career welfare bludgers nor the dregs that we import who demand welfare.

I'm not going to spend all night explaining myself. Use your great insight.
