that this Premier is keeping the border closed in an attempt to win the election.

on the advice of our "medical experts" (who I believe simply believed the weasel Fauci) told us emphatically very early

I see, you can critique the government for what they do but you have no alternative of how it should be done. So, are you suggesting that government are incompetent simply because they failed to stop things form occurring? or is it because their efforts failed to work the way you think it should have? As for the QLD government, the purpose of the closure is to minimise a no win situation. If you wait for it to happen (as Victoria did) then nothing you do will be a winning solution. NSW, didn't lock the borders until after they had start of spread which may well be the difference from this virus.

The reason for the different advice for the mask wearing is because, should you come into contact with infection, a poorly fitted mask is actually like capturing the virus in a rage and inhaling. Apparently now, the protection offered is considered to be better than not wearing, that may change again.

Now when it comes to 'hotspots' I have to agree about simply how incompetent they are. There is only one reason for this terminology and that is to open the economy up while trying to prevent the spread of the virus. That is to say, while the virus remains active, government is trying to build a protocol to halt the spread of the virus by isolating small areas while allowing the rest of the nation to return to normal life. The incompetence is to believe life will return to normal. Nothing will return to normal while this virus and future virus remain uncontrollable.

You are absolutely correct that crisis brings the best and the worst out in the people, considering that we have corrupted leadership who rather than act for the better of the nation would rather fill their own coffers, they are exposed.

I just don't believe people should downplay a very serious problem, for their own personal agenda.

No, you clearly missed my point, that much conflicting advice from the so-called professionals has made the policy as it was. Now since the virus is rampant in Victoria, it has been decided that the use of masks will be better than not using.

The advice was never simple, because until a month ago it was not considered an airborne virus. NOW it is. So advice changes as knowledge occurs.

Doesn't matter where I live, However, mask wearing is not requirement in QLD.

As for the politics of the decision, I already agree that it was political. but the fact is that it is about trying to appear to be the better at controlling the situation.

It is this simple, Morrison and all the state governments want to open the boarders get back to work and just revert back to life before the virus and they are trying to find ways to do so, 'hotspot' was the biggest failure, because you have 72hrs MINIMUM between the time a person becomes infectious to the time they show symptoms (if at all) in those 72hrs the number of people a person could infect is huge. The distance they could travel is huge and this one aspect demonstrates the failure of Morrison and government to believe they could open everything up by trying to isolate areas to hotspots.

BUT hey, it is easy to just deny the dangers of a virus to attack people over your opinion. The only person defending border closures? I think you might find that to be wrong.
