What's happening for you all today?

Post by mellie » Sun Nov 24, 2024 12:32 pm

Like always, I'm crazy busy, just dropped my daughter up to studio for dance photos ( 2 hours) yay I get time for a cuppa, then we're off to church for church play rehearsals, and we parents will have a socialise while this is happening.

It took 2 hour's to prepare for dance photos this morning, not too bad, normally takes 3, so we're getting better at it.

It's organised chaos though, admittedly, bun pins, make-up, all dance footwear needs to be spick and span, and it all starts with a bubble bath. Lucky her, I'm sitting here looking like a dag, I am dressed in my housework daggies because I have chores to do before I pick her up.

I wish I had more time to post here, but such is life.
🙂🙃

From November onwards, things get insanely crazy for us, like even more crazy than usual 😅
Admittedly, I enjoy the feeling of exhaustion when I get to flop into my bed at night and read after a super busy day, even when I'm aching, it's still nice to just finally stop.

It's almost deliriously enjoyable falling into a deep sleep when exhausted. I find I sleep better too, even with RA when we have these busy days.

My RA is going well , finally on the right medication combination ( two different injections weekly chemo & biologics) methotrexate + Humira. If you guys know anyone suffering with RA, this combination has definitely helped me. Spread the word!

Only downside is that I get random frequent infections, like ear infections due to the meds suppressing my immune system response. It's a small price to pay compared to the constant gnawing feeling in my joints that was horrific before starting this treatment . So... at least I can keep up with my daughter without feeling like a cripple. Lol

Also my brain-fog has lifted, so I'm back to my more energetic self. I have a secret goal....but won't share this just yet. 🙂

I had a fairly lazy day. Another 2 and a half weeks and I'm off to the snow! Lots and lots of snow and -20 degrees.

Great topic.

You're a busy one Mellie. Especially considering your RA.
Sorry I have nothing to offer on advice besides the top foods like garlic, etc. But beyond that, the only thing I know of to recover from my worn out back and shoulders is Rest for Recovery method. That is, in your case, a full year of light duties to allow your joints a recovery period while your body cells and systems are still young enough to regrow/recover.
I no longer put my body in a 9-5 usual work situation. My body would deteriorate and get worse. I've just quit my dishwashing little shift, for my back's sake. In the last 10+ years, I've only found 'rest' the most effective. To stop on my back, shoulders and whatever starts to hurt. Time is more valuable to alleviate the pain, etc. Let alone no longer doing the type of things that made my back, shoulders, etc - the way they are and the worse they can become. Maybe in the next 10 years there might be an improvement in my condition? The recovery gets slower, the older we become. I'm not some 16 year old anymore that can make a full recovery from a full on paralysing side of a stroke in 2 years (of which I've seen a few times in my years working in Rehabs). But better late than never. Well, that's what they said when I was born a month late (with Buddha-like consciousness😁).

Couple days ago was 36 deg… today it’s cool and raining.
My bones feel like the house settling noises!
Just had a fairly lazy day today… did some laundry, a few necessary phone calls and basically not much else… looking through cook books putting stickers on recipe pages that look interesting to try out. Now I’m watching a fave show… tipping point!

Yep that would do it for me too!
I’m just hopeless with getting blood tests… they can never find a vein, poke in one arm… nothing… poke in other arm… nothing … and I’m told I’m dehydrated…
Then I get poked in back of hand and out it comes at last…
Bandages everywhere … I go home feeling like Swiss cheese
I must remember to drink more water!

When getting a 💉. I cry if it's a woman doing it. Look like I'm gonna get violent if a male does it. Alas, the woman knows me well as an ex neighbour. She told me to HTFU today. :roll
