Do you not normally breathe when you wake up? I find it very difficult to hold my breath all night.

Breathe - I meant while lying in bed on your back breathe consciously and fully.
Good to place hands on belly and chest if this is new to you.
Do this slowly.
Inhale into your belly first, filling your torso from the stomach first, then up to the mid torso, then chest and shoulders.
It should take 3 seconds or more.
Hold your breath for 1 - 2 seconds.
Let it exhale of it's own accord fully. let it take 5 seconds or more.
