I hope everyone has a great new year whether you are going out raging, spending it quietly with family and friends or just staying home and watching it on the tele.

My ancestors were Scottish. So Hogmanay and bagpipes at this time of year!

What were your ancestors?

On my Mother's side ... Scottish!

I still hate bagpipes. Mum loved them.

Hogmanay is really only done with the bagpipes! You want a choir?

Bring on the bagpipes. My great grandmother was a McCurdy. Her ancestors were Scottish royalty but were almost wiped out in a clan war. Two brothers escaped the slaughter in a boat and luckily drifted to an island and started families. Birth records were lost for about 100 years, but otherwise my ancestry can be traced to the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon in the Bible. I'm also English, American Indian, and who knows what else. I have a book somewhere around the house that traces my great grandmother's lineage to the late 1600s.

My aunt is into genealogy. My great great great grandfather was a captain for the confederacy in the Civil War. His cousin was a famous Confederate general whose last name I share. My aunt tells me that we are related to 17 US presidents, including 0bama. Not that it means anything. My parents started with nothing, as did I.

Anyway, Happy 2020.

How can you hate bagpipes?

The music is hauntingly beautiful and when you get a lot of them together it's brilliant.

I went to the Royal Tattoo a few years ago in Edenbrough and it was absolutely spell binding.
They did a rendition of Coming Home, and when ALL the bagpipes started up it was beyond amazing.

Bagpipes is best.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
