What are your hobbies?

Post by Texan » Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:15 am

We all work for a living or have retired from doing so, but what do you do to fill the gaps? Do you restore old cars? Build houses or do remodeling? Garden? Can fruits and vegetables? Make quilts? Paint portraits? Let's see what we can do.

About 6 weeks ago, I started making bedside lamps. I was in San Antonio for work and got bored at the hotel. I went to Lowe's(building supply store) and assembled a lamp in about 30 minutes after returning to my hotel room. I finished it at home and ordered a bunch of pipe iron fittings on line and have made 4 more since. All lamps have electrical outlets and USB charge ports for phones and tablets. Some lamps use a converted water valve for the electrical on/off switch. What do you think and what do you do in your spare time?

Sorry. I didn't have time or patience to downsize the pic to directly post it.

Very creative and very cool, Tex. The industrial look is really popular too. Are you going to sell them?

I used to do all sorts of creative things. I used to love working with my hands. I seem to have lost the inclination nowadays though. I will put up some pics a bit later if I can find them.

Very pretty, Black Orchid.

Very interesting, Tex.

Personally, I like to write. I write short stories. I enjoy reading them to my Trouble n' strife. She enjoys listening to them. :thumb

We used to have to use the old analog meters to test fuel probes in the tanks of fighter jets. The digital meters were higher voltage and risked explosion.

I punt on the ponies and various sports.
I was lucky enough to get $4 for Jamie Vardy to be the top goal scorer in the EPL this season.
He's now into $2.20..hopefully he wont suffer an injury and just keep scoring........
Currently I am considering backing Canberra to win the NRL GF next year..... $7.00 at the moment...
I also collect various coins and resell them...
At the moment I have several 2017 Ford coin sets (uncirculated) which are in a beautiful
blue tin box together with information folders...
I also collect sporting memorabilia...I have a Winx set of Cox Plate replicas, a statuette
of Black Caviar, an autographed racing helmet from Donny Schatz of Knoxville Sprintcar fame
plus several framed team autographed football jumpers from Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Germany World Cup winners from 2014.. .....etc...
I have a replica of the 2017 Brownlow medal won by Dustin Martin plus a replica of the 2017 GF medal won by Richmond..
etc etc....
To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire
Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

I collected cat ornaments for a while and I am not all that interested in cats, I prefer dogs. LOL It's a phase, I guess.

Oh, and I used to paint, write short stories, do patchwork, and lots of other stuff.
