Home Brewed beer
I've started to brew my own beer.
It's interesting, the industry is a bit unprofessional.
I doubt it 'saves money'. More a personal pride/creative thing

If you have the time to malt your own barley and grow a few hops, It can certainly be a labour of love, . But if you want bang for you buck then distillation is where it is at

Re: Home Brewed beer
Am finding the sanitising process a bit ........ undefined.
One of my friends uses bleach, then water, then a sanitiser .
Another friend uses no sanitiser at all !!!
One friend said try rinse in water, then leave them upside down in the sun.
I tested that, a digital thermometer inside a bottle read 48.6 degrees, that would kill most bacteria.
I tried some bottles using the sanitiser, one using the sun sanitising method

I can't stand beer but I did distil my own spirits for awhile. It was a great product too

You need 60 plus to guarantee an acceptable kill, But the UV could assist,, hot water, bleach and a little surfactant will do the job

yes, i read somewhere 77 degrees. so lets call it 80.
I suppose a lower temperature for hours would be ok ?
Seems rinsing and using sanitiser worked for me.

Just make sure the water you use for the brew has been taken high enough to kill the bugs, sprintcyclist wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 7:52 pmBigP wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 7:20 pm'sprintcyclist wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 6:44 pmAm finding the sanitising process a bit ........ undefined.

Re: Home Brewed beer
Tap water won't kill bacteria unless you heat it to a very high temp.
