18 to 1 is amazing for a public school. Usually it is more like 30 to 1 :shock:

It's probably that for the classroom, i was just looking at the total teacher / pupil numbers from my school website.

I believe her school has 15 in a class :)

Girls do better than boys if they are in a higher student to teacher ratio. Boys not so much. Once boys reach puberty they need treating with kid gloves.

I would be more worried if she were a male.

Many children do perfectly well at public schools. My daughter is a self starter and high achiever so I have no doubt shell do well at either. It will be sad for her to not go to school with all of her friends as many are going to the local high school.

Simply put. Either your kid has it or they don't...and no amount of tutoring or studying will make it happen.

Public/private... only mediocre kids stand to gain more from a private education. But not much more.

Cleverness isn't synonymous with achievement.

Our system is geared towards accommodating a majority of mainstreamers, because this is what a majority of fee paying parents expect.
