When the supermarkets banned plastic and sold cloth grocery bags made in China they were found to contain high levels of formaldehyde and people were loading up all of their groceries in them.

Lead, NPEs, Phthalates, PFCs and Formaldehyde are all found in childrens' clothing made in China.

Formaldehyde is used on all cotton clothes otherwise it goes off when stored.
Formaldehyde kills everything: mold, yeast, bacteria, insects and people.

You must wash all new cotton clothes before wearing them.
Cotton clothes should be put on clothes hangers in the cupboard so that air
can circulate around it to stop it going off - smelling musty.

It's not easy to find a good sausage roll nowadays. The frozen Aldi ones are pretty good though.
Hard to find decent pies too.
The demise of our Australian culture, plenty of Sushi rolls and pho bowls tho, on just about every corner in the city.

Thankfully Australian culture is alive and well here in Ballarat, so happy to be here.
Everything's been sold out to the Chinese. Most of the bakeries are run by the Chinese or Vietnamese and their pies, sausage rolls, cakes and pastries are nothing like the good old Aussie ones were.

There was an iconic pie place in Sydney, Harry's Cafe de Wheels, and their pies and sausage rolls were awesome. It started out as a cart in Woolloomooloo. Now it's franchised and run by Chinese and their pies and sausage rolls are absolutely nothing like they used to be.
Probably because they're using ingredients that have been laced with petrochemicals imported from China, who have been caught again recently for carrying food in the same tanks as chemicals and petroleum...and didn't even bother washing them out first. Unbelievable, I won't consume anything that's come from so much as a Chinese restaurant these days, and I'm not alone.

Recently it's been announced that their clothing is even toxic, so I won't be buying anything made in or by China.

Shein, was one of those named for selling toxic clothing.

Toxic food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, and toys...a coincidence?

I think we need to take a reality check and boycott these grubs at all cost.
If it means buying 2nd hand ugly clothes from an op shop or even making my own from fabric from somewhere that's not China, then so be it.
And whats deeply concerning is our governments silence on this, you would have thought our government would have seized oils in Australia know to have come from China and at least tested them.

Why is our government not protecting it's citizens from dangerous foods, clothing etc coming from China?

It's all OK - you just need to wash new cotton clothes. :)

I'm just having soup tonight. Maybe with a crusty bread roll.

Sorry to hear about your RA Mellie.
I guess working as an RN must have been demanding on your RA?
My only 'click' for you on Arthritis is the recent growing trend in Europe of 'micro-dosing' on the mushrooms commonly used as 'Magic Mushrooms'.
Not the full traditional trippy (stupid) hit of full consumption, etc.
But a routine of something like 1% of such a day, etc. At first nothing happens at all. But many are now saying with a disciplined micro-dose use - within a month it hammers the arthritis, inflammations, back pains, joint pains and the icing is 'better sleep'.
It's up to you to do your research on this Mellie, but it might be worth looking into. Even if its not your answer, it might lead you to finding something that is.

As for 'phones'. Bah Humbug! :B
I hate the little things - so hard to type and I've a very good fast typist.
Typing in the dark, where I can't really see the keyboard, even by the screen-light, sure sped things up.
Just like learning to read came from my very young days when SBS was just new and all the foreign films came into Australia.
Learning to read subtitles during a sex-scene, sure did make me read as fast as I could. :P

Well I finally found a nice place to rent that meets all my requirements, like cost, location, quiet factors, surrounding neighbours, etc.
There were some very nice places, but they were placed next to 'unit blocks', etc and well - nothing worse than noisy shouting, fighting, neighbourhood crap. :roll
I can walk to shops, walk to my new pocket-money job, walk to pools, walk to the beaches... :B nah, I'll still drive.
It took awhile - but its a part of the state that has been hammered with B&B's that have strangled the availability of places to rent, even for high income workers, etc.
I had to be picky, didn't want to compromise my quality of living by being desperate and just grabbing the first available, etc.
It was worth the wait. Hit the sweet spot on the tennis racket.

So it's just a case of me polishing off what's in the fridge where I've been slummin it since losing my FREE abode of EVERYTHING PAID FOR out in the nice forests right on the coast, etc. Oh well, I should have done some better reports while in Ukraine that made a more profitable turn-over for the companies I was working for. Wasn't my fault I lost the joint to some couple who had better Black Market connections than me. I guess I just had scrupples.

Dinner tonight -

Curried hard boiled eggs with a sauce made from:
half a tin of tomatoes, onion and Portobello mushrooms.
I used one level tea spoon of Keen's curry powder.

I used Basmati rice.
It was very nice indeed.

Baked sausages and mixed vegetables with tabouli last night. The sausages were thick Italian pork sausages with fennel and it was my first attempt at making tabouli. Everything worked out very well and there weren't any leftovers.
