I thought new cars were less likely to be in a crash and safer if in a crash too
If i wanted to survive a major crash id put my money on an old holden rather than a flimsy tiny buzzbox with plastic panels.
I believe newer cars are significantly better in a crash.

7 airbags, designed to crumple and protect the passengers.

As long as you dont have Takata airbags which were installed in millions of cars and which have produced a number of fatalaties by fragmenting on impact.

Sorry skeptics, old cars suck in a crash. What year model is your Camry, Sprint?

And for a good old solid car

I don't think you can compare American made cars with Jap cars which consist of too much plastic and not enough metal.

2008, so it is pretty old and way behind the safety levels of a new car

2008 is good as most of the newest updates are more about avoidance like lane keeping and auto braking.

And a good thing too

With most Australian drivers sending text and playing with their phones, they have little time to actually drive.

I drive the M1 ( F3) between Sydney and Newcastle every day.
I see some of the most stupid things.
But our cops are too busy watching the radar for speeders, they miss the real problem......crap drivers.

Cops can't be expected to see every driver on the road doing every little thing wrong.

No, Cops are not intelligent or capable enough to actually work out anything but a "Beep" on their radar gun.

Oh Goody, I get to play boy racer and catch the driver and give him a fine.

Want an example?

They caught a guy in Newcastle using a mobility scooter to tow a boat.

Somewhere in the dim dark recesses of their seldom used synapses, they know that's not quite right.

But they just puled him over and got his details, then they went back to the station to try and work out what he was doing wrong.

It took two damn weeks before they fined him.

Yep, real bright our cops.
learned it all from Keystone cop videos.
By the way, General duties officers despise highway patrol......they call them cockroaches.

Speeding infringements are just something that can be done on scale and it is actually true that keeping the racers off the road reduces fatalities.

However, they take it too far and give people tickets for going half a poofteenth over the limit in safe conditions. Up the M4 they'd be better off pulling over the arseclowns who tailgate at 110KPH.
