I don't think they cooked fresh salmon in the canteen? Where I went to school it was called a 'tuck shop' too lol.
No all the canteens are run by a corporate and you order via an app.
Menulog for schools?
Some of the stuff is made fresh or purchased ready to go
and the menus are designed by a corporate which supplies the food and runs the app which is for ordering/payment.
I reckon the meat pies back then would have been pretty terrible.
I think Id get a Sao with vegemite cheese and tomato.
I loved the good old (meat?????) Pies.
Stick the top of the sauce bottle into the pie, squeeze, and eat.
Yum yum
I went to school back in 1964
High school in 1970.
I got a princely $2.00 pocket money for the week, which got me a pie nearly every second day.
It also left enough to buy a whole bunch of 3 for a cent lollies.
And with the child excursion tickets available on the weekend 20cents for the day, we could travel to our hearts content.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
They were such a hit in summer that they bought a freezer just for them.
And no such thing as bottled water
We woukd think it stupid to bottle water when there were bubblers everywhere.
Our school backed onto a bakery
We used to beg for fresh bread straight out of the ovens.
Mmmmmmmmmm...nice
And on the way home there was Arnotts biscuits, we used to beg for broken biscuits through the street level windows into the bakery there as well.
As kids, we did it quite tough
My parents had little money for anything
Chicken was a luxury back then, we ate rabbit, cheaper but far less tasty.
Stews were a staple and most meals were quite small.
Kids woukd die these days.
For fun, we made Billy carts using old pallets, old nails we found and hammered straight and used ball bearings begged from truck and car repairers.
Isn't get my first bike until I was 16, a 28 inch Malvern star back pedal brakes and one gear.
Ahhh, those were the days.

When I was about 9 years old all I got for Xmas was a handkerchief.
I used it dry my tears at such a lousy present.
I swear to you
Everything I have written is the gods truth.
My parents were quite poor.
We had little but love.
We made do and made our own fun.
Most of the other kids I knew were not much better off
For this reason and for the love of my life
I worked hard, studied hard and advanced through to management and more wealth.
My kids wanted for little, but we did not spoil them.
It's been a hard life
But it's been worth it.

My story is true too.
I had a hard life when I was young.
We only had good food because my father had a huge and productive veggie garden
and he went fishing at least once per week.
We lived mostly on fresh vegetables & fish.
The only time we had a roast dinner was Xmas when we had a roast chicken a few times.
I had it tough.
