What use is there for a GMod? I think one person who visits on a daily basis (being the admin) can handle a small forum with minimal rules.Redneck wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 7:09 pmSo still no independant or even a right wing yes man Gmod?Black Orchid wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 6:55 pmI don't need to replace you. All you did was want to ban people, which I opposed.
Why?
Also, if what you say is true and there is "private whispers" about how bad or "biased" the forum is, then why don't these people grow a spine and say so? What are they afraid of? If what you say is true, then Brian Ross would be banned for his personal abuse of posters he disagrees with. You would also be banned, because you're a lefty and you often pull stunts like this.
Your OP is bullshit and the fact that you have to get some 'liquid courage' into you, in order to get this pettiness off your chest, speaks volumes about you.

Basically there's at least three (could be more, I dunno, I'm pretty new as opposed to other members) political based forums that house the same members. These members have "been around" for years and years, and as they have gotten to know one another, they form little cliques and have these feuds that is akin to high school. Many of these members don't even discuss politics.. they just want post gossip about people they don't like, sometimes publicly like this, and elsewhere in private.

Yep. I've been around enough to see it. I don't really understand all of this drama. I used to post on one of the other forums. There was a lot of drama there and I was called names a lot more than I felt like dealing with, so I left. I had no problems with the forum. I just didn't like the drama, condescension, and personal attacks everybody was doing to each other. I can take abuse and not lose my temper, but I didn't feel the need to. Now that I'm seeing it here, I wonder if I shouldn't have burned my bridges there and just let them cool off for a while. Aussies are a little more open vocal with the confrontation than we are used to in America. I can argue a point all day long and I can take criticism or agree to disagree, but I don't have much patience for personal attacks. The Reboot wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 12:16 pmBasically there's at least three (could be more, I dunno, I'm pretty new as opposed to other members) political based forums that house the same members. Aussies are way more private than we are in America. I think that's because you are a smaller country and keeping your anonymity is a little harder. I won't give out my address or last name and rarely even give my first name, but I hesitate to post pictures because everybody else is so uptight about it.

Politics is a very passionate subject and for this reason I expect personal attacks and what not, especially when there's a massive divide between left and right. If I'm attacked I will attack back. I see it as more of a case of, if they have the right to express their views, personal attack or not, I do too. The part that I criticize is when folks devote their time solely for gossip and clique feuds.Texan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:29 pmYep. I've been around enough to see it. In a way it's somewhat embarrassing American posters like yourself and 4E are respectful and you don't jump on the gossip bandwagon. 4E's posts are entertaining, without being abusive so props to him.
As for anonymity -- to this day I have only shared personal details with one person on this forum, because I grew to trust her. There maybe one or two other people from here I would share with, but I don't really engage with them outside of political discussion.
The scourge of these forums have a history of prying into people's private information and discovering their identities. It has even gotten to the point where these "doxxers" have apparently rang workplaces and tried to get people sacked. Elsewhere, they keep a "log" of IP addresses. These people are deranged, and they are sick. I don't want to be anywhere near them, so I am not posting anything personal which suits me fine. Add to that, I've always been a private person anyway.
