Re: Hospitals not respecting privacy.
I would have thought it common courtesy to let the patent know that they were about to be reported and how it all worked to get their licence back etc
But then again... when you take a look at the verbal and physical assaults on medical staff in recent years maybe they are avoiding that confrontation...
you know how old people get when you tell them that they can't do something ...

The blind, epileptics, the insane, the mentally deficient etc. All these people have a perfect right to drive a 1 tonne mass of metal capable of killing multitudes if not handled correctly. Lets go even further and give them pilots licenses.

It's a joke joyce, but says it all.I've sure gotten old!
I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends.
But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.

You're right.
The doctors are avoiding assaults.
They're scared of their patients.

Well my doctor would NEVER do that to me and the only time I have tests done at a hospital is when she refers me and they have to report back to her then anyway.
Having a good 'family doctor' is imperative and worth the effort in finding a decent one if you don't have one already.

Bobby wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 10:32 amIn the last year I have heard of 2 people who lost their car licenses after having a blood test at a hospital.
One person was diagnosed as having a mild stroke &
the other had a blood test that said there was an elevated
level of lactic acid in their blood which was a possible sign of a seizure causing unconsciousness.
In the 2nd case the person had been doing hard physical work and fell over.
He was mowing lawns and doing gardening so of course there
was an elevated level of lactic acid in his blood.
He fell over and hit his head but was OK.
He just rolled his ankle a bit on unlevel ground.
It was a normal fall that happens every day somewhere.
Anyway - both people arrived home
and it was only about a week later that they got a letter in the mail
saying they had lost their car license.
The hospitals had contacted the police and the police had written the letters.
In the 2nd case especially it was a false silly diagnosis
but it still stood & the guy couldn't drive his car for 6 months.
Shouldn't a blood test be private between you and your doctor?
What right has a hospital got to go behind your
back & dob you in to the police?
He asked a lawyer and apparently there was nothing he could do about it -
it was all legal.
So - what happened to our privacy?
You thought the blood test was for your benefit but
it was the state putting your license on the line.
Neither person was told that the blood test was for reasons of cancelling their license.
Around five years back I had a brain hemorrhage, Under the knife and a few weeks in hospital . I was told I would not be able to drive for around six months , I inquired as to whether information on my condition had been passed onto the relevant authorities, And the informed me that wasnt the case, They said they were not in a position to say legally that I was not safe on the road , but if I told them that I would drive regardless they would pass on their opinion to the authorities , as it turned out I was totally fucked for a few months so it really didnt matter
