My little lovely has been gradually learning to use many of my tools.

But she draws the line at some of the more industrial ones.

But over the years while helping me renovate my home , my fathers home , my sisters home and my daughters home, she quite competently uses most tools.

She even took to basic repairs while I was overseas for extended periods and can competently replace washers, install wall fittings, replace powerpoints, even some basic car repairs, although changing her tyres is beyond her as she cannot lift the tyre back onto the hub.

Most women can be as competent with tools as men, but some just dont cut it for the strength required to use other tooling for extended periods.

' .......... replace powerpoints ......... '
I am in the electrical industry. Unless she is an Electrician she should not changer GPOs.
The Insurance will be void on our house if there is a problem
Pardon my opinion
But PowerPoints are so simple these days, colour coded and easily replaced
I have taught her to strip the wires correctly, and ensure good connection
And of course isolating the circuit, not just switching the fuse.

It's not like adding PowerPoints
That requires some basic calculations, which most people, electricians included, neglect to do.
You can easily overload a circuit with additional PowerPoints if you don't know what you are doing.

It's illegal in NSW to do electrical work yourself.

And it's illegal to work on you car, fit washers to your taps and even change a lightbulb.

Illegal is not always right, or sensible.

I tried to show a woman how to remove and clean the spark plugs in her car, so it would run better.

And she called it "Secret mens' business" :huh
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

When my ex-husband saw a Ford Cortina (about a 1968 model) sitting on a nature strip in St Ives with a price tag of $500 ... he couldn't wait to buy it. Ostensibly, as a "second car" for me to use. We already had a very nice Ford. This was about 1976. It was his "first car" as a boy, so he bought it for "memories".

What he did make sure I knew BEFORE I was allowed to drive the thing was:

* putting petrol in the car
* checking the tyres, etc
* checking the brake fluid
* checking the battery
* checking the spark plugs
* changing the OIL
* changing the tyres

Plus other stuff .....

So, since I have a "mechanical mind", I learned all that and when taking cars to the Mechanics I tell them what is wrong, not what they "say" is wrong. Females aren't stupid ... not all of them. ;)

Good thinking.

A very clever woman I know made a point of never learning to start a lawnmower.
