I rescued a cross Border Collie once and he was the most devoted and the SMARTEST dog I have ever had. He was stolen and chained up, he was shot and he was caged yet he always made his way home.
oh wow...

It's natural for normal people to grieve over the loss of a pet. They love us unconditionally which is something that most people cannot comprehend, let alone understand and practice.
Bingo!
When I was a young boy I had a Teddy bear, now I'm an old boy a black dog shares my bed (and takes over at times).
For a lot of people their animals are part of their family, and they quite often love their animals more than their blood relatives .. for me they sort of are my family, and I definitely care more for them than anyone. Admittedly I'm more fond of my dogs than the goats, but the dogs are my friends, the goats are lawn mowers.

Lambs make the best pets,
They are so cute when you are bottle feeding them , but at some point they stop becoming pets and become food, then you eat them. happens every time
