Do what the rest of us singles do, pay some bloke to come and clean out the gutters. Ditto the lawnmowing.

surely you can push a lawn mower...
and stop being sexist...

Unfortunately, NO, I can't do it any more and it has nothing whatsoever to do with sexism .... should I begin carrying on about blokeism? I do NOT ask a male friend to do for me,
I pay some bloke to do it. So there!
oh...
ok....

I used to mow the lawn, do the gardening, clean out the guttering and even clean the house but these days I pay somebody to "help" me do all that. I am retired, plus it gives somebody "employment", so, since I can afford to, I pay others to do stuff.

Personally I don't like people cleaning my house. I used someone years ago until I caught them using the same rag for bathrooms/kitchen etc. So out the door they went. The thought of someone wiping the toilet and then wiping down the kitchen benches with the same cloth made me livid. Paid cleaners just don't go to the same sanitary extent that home owners do. They think if it looks clean it is clean and that is not so.
Anyway, I don't particularly like people in my house that are not invited and following them around is not a good look. You just cannot trust paid cleaners to live up to the sanitary and hygiene standards that you hold for yourself.
Outside chores and windows? Sure! But inside I like to do it myself.

I definitely don't "hover" when the cleaner is here but I do hide my wallet!

Pool fumes are shocking today.... anyway, I'd be hiding my purse too if I had a cleaner.
A friend of mine had some valuables taken, so.... pays to be careful.

Oh well. I tried, and hopefully now the veranda won't overflow with water during heavy rain.

Thanks for your tips.
Congrats

Hmmmm. Shoulder aching just took ibuprofen, and some fat old guy about 6ft 4-opened my passenger door and abused me while parked, not obstructing anyone, just not where I was supposed to be so Lord Mayor wearing all these badges like an oversized freaking boy scout in a suit abused me then slammed my door closed.
I was on the phone, ironically speaking to my counsellor about .... well anyway, just unbelievable.
So I watched what building he went into.
Was a financial advice firm. I went in there and took a card and told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of him.
Parked incorrectly or not, who the hell did he think he was?
Pig.
Bet he was an accountant.
Anyway, that's my bitch for the day.

No biggie, I used a thing called a ladder helper and only did the bits that were causing my veranda to wash out when in rains.
Still haven't located where possum is getting in. Wondering if it's under an eve or via garage.
Anyway, check again tomorrow.
