Good point, but apparently that is exactly what the abusers have in mind. It makes them feel useful in their self-inflicted pathetic lives if they can upset Noobs enough to go through the exit. I'll "hang around" as long as I think they are the forum minority.

Following a number of complaints of threats, harassment and abuse in PMs.

Threats, harassment and abuse in PMs is now forbidden and where this occurs the PM may be forwarded to a Gmod who may apply an immediate ban to the perpetrator!

Now people can only abuse people publicly.
I look forward to some creative insults strewn about the place.

I agree with you AiA. This forum is about as libertarian and free speaking as it can get.
So there is absolutely no reason to take that abuse off forum and into into private msgs.
But that is what some are doing, affecting noobs and regulars alike!

I've only been active here a very short time but I can see that there must have been quite a storm brewing! I consider myself lucky that I missed it but even now there's an outrageously hostile ambience simmering (in several cases) and an outright display of a manic disorder by one forum member in particular.

Now people can only abuse people publicly.

I'm lucky not to have been here when it was so I don't feel the pain/disappointment. Of course, according to Lying Larry I've been a member for the past 78 years with an estimated total of 23 different accounts, each in a different name. Yes, you may not know it but you do not exist. You are simply one of many phantom creations of mine and this post (yes, this one) is just a dialogue I am having with myself.
