To replace the photos thread which I was sure I posted this morning but seems to have disappeared. Your own photos only, not random images from the web.

Here's a nice spot in the barren Gulf country of the QLD/NT border - Lawn Hill. The Gregory river springs from artesian water in the territory and flows east into Queensland. The water is extremely hard - having arisen through a limestone aquifer - and bloody cold! Very refreshing at the end of a long hot, dry walk through rock and spinifex. No crocs (only freshies) so swimming is safe.

The ridgetop in the background shows how desolate the area is away from the river and gorge.

The little waterfalls are not cut from the rock of the gorge, they are actually dams created by limestone coming out of solution in the hyper-mineralized water.

Not many places for the flying doctor to land out here so the highway doubles as an airstrip.
