The info Im seeking is as follows:
What part of the sale price of a second hand motor vehicle is the GST component.
Is it added to the profit on say a traded vehicle when it is offered for sale again, or is it added to the full sale price.
Ive been googling this for days for a mate.
Im also trying to discover if a car salesman gets paid his commission on the full price of the second hand
vehicle, or the price less the GST component, as the GST component is simply a tax, not profit.
I suppose I should just ring a car dealer...might not get very far..... :rofl
Anyone....
If you are registered for gst then gst is levied on the entire sale price. IE if you sell it/trade it to the the yard for $11000 the GST is 1/11 (10%) so $1000. If you are not registered for GST then you will remit no GST to the government. This is assuming this is a business vehicle. If it is a private vehicle. (not owned by the business/you didn't claim a gst credit on its purchase) then you will not be liable for GST. Profit has nothing to do with it. Any half decent tax agent will be able to do the calcs for you.

Hope that helps. best I can do without all the details
