I had never heard of the name myself.
It took me a lot of Googling to locate what it was as I could only hear him somewhere nearby, going on and on and on and on.

I've heard it too, but it is a fair way off from where I am, still an annoying, monotonous sound, no wonder people are yelling at it.
I wondered if you had heard them Nef as I thought you lived somewhere near my vicinity!
Actually my Burmese cat went mental around my PC when I put the Youtube of it on she was trying to find the bird!
I saw one around but thought it was a "blackbird". I used to get lots of birds in my garden, even saw a Willy Wagtail on my lawn once. Rosellas, Honey-eaters, Maggies, King Parrots, Finches, Currawongs. Never seen a common Indian Miner and all the Sparrows disappeared years ago. I have the "Birds of Australia" by Graham Pizzey and I used to write down the birds I saw in my garden.

I haven't seen a Sparrow, Willy Wagtail or Blue Wren since I was a kid.

Where have all the sparrows gone? (sounds like a song).
When I lived in St Ives we had Kookaburras in the gum trees and I used to feed them.
Blue Wrens are my favourite bird. Unfortunately, my daughter locked on to this and I have "ornaments" of them everywhere.
