Time travel is always intriguing ... anyone see "The Time Traveler's Wife" or read the novel. It is SF but could also be classified as Romance as well I suppose ...

I don't read as many books as I used to, but I'll put The Time Traveler's Wife on the list. Time travel appeals to a wide audience.

Movies I dislike more than Science Fiction would be cowboy or war movies. I enjoy an old movie occasionally where the yanks sounded British, the women were immaculate and the men had manners, but for every decent A grade film made in the 50's or 60's there are about a thousand John Wayne, Clint Eastwood or Rory Calhoun action packed rewrites of American history. There's a choice of combat with bombs in the first or second world war or you have some hero shooting Indians or cattle thieves.

They've been showing them ad nauseam on Australian TV for about half a century and they're not slowing down.

The US must have pumped these B grade movies out by the tens of thousands.

I agree, Mantra. Can't stand Country and Western music either. Yuck!

I recorded Les Misérables the other day (off Foxtel Movie Channel) and then watched it for 2.5 HOURS with Crowe and Jackman "singing". I'd seen the stage show (shown on ABC, I think) years ago. This was different. More boring. Neither Crowe nor Jackman have a singing voice and Ann Hathaway .... well ... she is excellent with the emotions (tears streaming down her face) ..........:D

The main songs? Apart from "I Dreamed a Dream" this one (Do you hear the people sing) is the one that got me.

Saw the movie CBGB last night on Amazon ... seems the mediocre Amazon reviews were written by music snobs which I am not so I enjoyed it.

Just had a look. It looks pretty good. However I notice in the opening that Spiderman catches a car on his back. He is not known for super strength like this. He normally uses his web that is super strong. They need to be consistent with the comic book powers are all the super heroes blur into one.

Actually he is... and remember he held up the wall in Spiderman 2.
When Peter Parker was bitten by a lethally irradiated spider, radioactive mutagenic enzymes in the spider's venom quickly caused numerous body-wide changes. Immediately after the bite, he was granted his original powers: primarily superhuman strength, reflexes, and balance; the ability to cling tenaciously to most surfaces; and a subconscious precognitive sense of danger, which he called a "spider-sense."

Spiderman has super strength. It's not that great compared to say, the Hulk, but Peter Parker is a fucking hell of a lot stronger than normal humans. Hell, he's stronger than Captain America, which puts Spiderman ahead of anything a "normal" human, even a massively chemically augmented one, can do.
