She was looking forward to a lifetime of attending VIP events and selling protein shakes on Instagram.
But almost two years after winning The Bachelor, Alex Nation has learned the hard way that fame has an expiry date.
Taking to social media on Friday, the single mother revealed she was forced to return to full-time work because she couldn't make enough money as an 'influencer'.

The 26-year-old wrote that returning to a more traditional workplace has meant sacrificing quality time with her son Elijah.
'I usually love a challenge but lately this one has proven quite difficult,' Alex stated.
'I've gone from spending almost all of my time with Elijah to working full time, getting home at seven just in time for bunk bed snuggles and doing readers.'
Sad! Alex was looking forward to a lifetime of attending VIP events and selling protein shakes on Instagram after (briefly) falling in love with Richie Strahan on The Bachelor
'I'm exhausted': The Melbourne socialite - who broke up with Richie last year after a brief romance - admitted that she was feeling 'exhausted' after returning to work full time
The Melbourne socialite - who broke up with Richie last year before embarking on a short-lived romance with a woman - admitted that she was feeling 'exhausted'.
'I miss (Elijah) and crave the time I had with him when I was working sporadically and doing sponsored posts for Ponstan,' she wrote.
'The reality is for me, sponsored Instagram posts weren't sustainable enough and I really wanted a full time job/career. So I went out and got it and I f**king love it!'
Alex then asked her Instagram followers for advice, writing: 'I know my struggle isn't unique, most mothers/parents and just humans in general struggle with balance.'
Alex's short-lived career as a social media influencer has resulted in some rather embarrassing slip-ups.
In December, she was widely ridiculed for sharing a sponsored Instagram post for period pain medicine.
She posted a photo of herself scudding up to her dog while conspicuously holding up a packet of Ponstan.
'Don't let "that time of the month" keep you indoors in your trackie dacks and granny undies,' she captioned the post.
'Ponstan allows me to take our fur baby for a walk in the sunshine. Head to Priceline now and check out the awesome promotion Ponstan is running!'
Even Alex's radio co-hosts at 88.3 Southern FM couldn't resist mocking her on-air at the time over the bizarre advertisement.
She has also also been accused of staging paparazzi photos in the past.
Alex's notorious Bali beach romp with ex-fiancée Maegan Luxa in October even saw her accused of double standards by her friend Jay Bruno.
Speaking on their community radio show last year, Jay claimed that Alex didn't have the right to complain about the press because of her deals with the paps.
'You can't tell them to come down to the beach, when you're down there to take photos of you looking good, and then have a go at them!' he said on air.
Alex also made headlines last month when she was accused of selling her private text messages with Michael Turnbull to Woman's Day 'for a few dollars'.
'It's disgusting Alex would send someone's private messages to the media and make false claims just to make a few dollars,' Michael told Daily Mail Australia.
Using Alex's text messages as 'proof', Woman's Day alleged that Michael attempted to stage paparazzi photos with her in exchange for a percentage of the sale.
However, the former Bachelor In Paradise star strongly denied this was the case and insisted he was trying to arrange a legitimate photo shoot for a brand.
