Pretty hopeless budget reply wasn't it? No substance, just rhetoric. Perhaps it was quite clever political rhetoric. I think Abbott may be all about all show no go in everything. Red speedos. That's him.
The budget reply ignored the budget, ignored the problems Australia faces, didn't specify how the alternative government would handle the economic situation, and relied on saying he would improve living standards without saying how, or how it would impact on the budget bottom-line.
It seemed like he did not know how to handle it or what to say. He didn't address the economic issues at all.
Budget reply - all show, no go.

Re: Budget reply - all show, no go.
It was an election campaign speech. All bluster and slogans, even a hokey reference back to Menzies “Forgotten people” speech.
Tone wants to heap govt welfare on those making $3000/week or more. Crazy! Still trying to carry forward the Howard agenda 4 years after Howard got the boot and in circumstances where the economy is soft as people deleverage after a long crazy credit binge.
FFS if you can’t make it on $3000/week then better see what can be cut back, take junior out of private school, cancel the private golf course subscription, trade in the Ferrari on a more modest car etc etc. What an insult to old age pensioners who get $16,000 a year, not $16,000 every 5 weeks!

If what Abbott did last night is an indication of it's value, we might as well scrap a nationally broadcast budget reply. As Monk said, it was an election launch, and did not reply to the budget....at all.

Abbot's reply excited me so much I retired with a beer instead of watching it.
