Oh stop sniggering, idiots, this is more tragedy than comedy. I love this sentence:
The current Government has spent $2.5 billion installing and removing combustible roof batts, $16 billion on overpriced school halls and is now spending more than $50 billion on Australia’s largest ever infrastructure project without a cost-benefit study.
It is time to end the pork barrelling and decisions that are driven by short-term political considerations.
OK the costs and claims of the HIP and BER are wrong as can be expected, the NBN costing they give is nearly double the real cost but these programs all shared one aspect: they covered all of Australia! Then we get the next sentence
“It is time to end the pork barrelling. . .” funny kind of porkbarreling! Covers every electorate in the country! Guess the Libs just cannot help lying all the time! Then the NBN is a program for the next 50 years! Short term? For Methuselah maybe!
The actual “policy” is just motherhood statements about Infrastructure Australia, nothing really.
Oh, the flim flam, errr policy look here if you have time to waste:

You know Monk .. the document ^^^ outlines the framework upon which the coalition's infrastructure policy is designed.
I know I wouldn't be releasing any more details at this time. Think about it ..

Yeah, I know, parties keep new policies close to their chests until the election campaign, and don’t mind me doing a bit of Lib knocking—I think the Greens are a worse enemy for Labor just now—but still, the policy is flim flam and that stuff about pork barreling is beyond ridiculous, they could have made a stronger point there than that one. I don’t think Tone is really into detailed policies and the Lib costings debacle last election, ouch!

I'm a Labor voter but I'm not completely uncritical. They need to get back to embracing true full-employment policies. The insidious concept of NAIRU does not remotely resemble real full employment. And as a participant in numerous jobseeker training schemes in the wake of the 1990 recession, I was keenly aware of the fact that such schemes are of limited use when employers are not hiring. Training may give an edge when times eventually improve but the fact remains - the unemployed cannot find jobs that do not exist. Tinkering with supply is of limited effectiveness when the major problem is a lack of demand.
installing and removing combustible roof batts
When did roof batts suddenly become combustible? Roughly
one in every eight houses in Australia had insulation installed under the programme. If it was even remotely as bad as the hysterical bleating of the MSM made it out to be, every single one of us should personally know someone who was fried in their bed, had their home reduced to cinders etc.

At the moment tho, there is demand for jobs, Julia wants locals to get those jobs, not immigrants. anyway, details in the Budget 3 weeks away.
Stuff like HIP & BER are needed when there are few jobs about, now reskilling and training.
Anyone know if there have been replacements for Henry & McKibbin announced and what they are like?
The other good thing would be to get rid of the Jobs Network, a piece of Howard fraud that does not help those wanting real work.

Much respect Monk and Left Winger.
It's encouraging for me to see that you are both able to step back and critically analyse/appraise your own party's policy directions.
If only more people could be like this.
