Pyne the pain plans plot to punk Bishop

Post by mantra. » Sun Apr 19, 2009 11:04 am

Why don't they get rid of them both - although Pyne should definitely go first - the little creepy weasel. Talk about infighting. They haven't got a chance of regaining power while the party is in such a mess. Turnbull is possibly better than the rest of them - but he's still hopeless. If he does have any answers, you don't get to hear them because you fall asleep before he finishes waffling on about anything and everything.
CHRISTOPHER Pyne has been named as the person leading a vicious campaign to dump Opposition deputy leader Julie Bishop.

Ms Bishop has been told privately by colleagues that Mr Pyne was behind the campaign to remove her from the treasury portfolio and is again attempting to destabilise her position as deputy leader.

Liberal MPs are so incensed by the ploy, they have produced a dirt file on Mr Pyne with allegations relating to his SA electorate of Sturt.

The Sunday Telegraph journalist Glenn Milne revealed in his column in The Australian newspaper last week that a group of MPs, dubbed the "big swinging ***s'', were plotting to remove Ms Bishop from her role as deputy leader.

Behind the scenes, critics of Mr Pyne have named Steven Ciobo, Greg Hunt, Peter Dutton, Jamie Briggs, Michael Keenan and Scott Morrison as being a part of the "big swinging ***s''.

Opposition leader in the Senate and senior Liberal MP Nick Minchin confirmed Ms Bishop had been the victim of a destabilisation campaign since the beginning of the year.

"All I would be able to say on the record, and I would note for the record, that clearly there was evidence of a campaign of destabilisation of Julie Bishop's position of shadow treasurer engaged in by one or two members of the Coalition but I would keep my views on that campaign private as well as my views as who might have been involved in the matter,'' he said.

Last week, Mr Pyne strongly rejected suggestions he was part of any plan to remove Ms Bishop and denied a plan even existed. He again denied it yesterday despite a widespread belief that he was the central player.

"The idea that I would be in opposition to Julie Bishop is wishful thinking on some people's part to try and create further destabilisation,'' Mr Pyne said.

"Julie knows that I support her 100 per cent and there is no credibility to the suggestion.''

But two MPs and a Liberal source told The Sunday Telegraph that Ms Bishop was frustrated by Mr Pyne's attempts to undermine her during parliamentary sittings and party room meetings.

At a Liberal party room meeting last month, Mr Pyne is understood to have walked to the front table and chatted with Malcolm Turnbull while Ms Bishop was giving her address as deputy leader.

"I've seen her get very annoyed with him when he's done that in a tactics meeting,'' a senior Liberal MP said.

"She (Bishop) would be making a point and he'd start talking over her.''

Ms Bishop is also understood to have been told privately by colleagues Mr Pyne has been behind a concerted campaign to destabilise her position as deputy leader. She has declined to comment

The file sent to The Sunday Telegraph includes allegations Mr Pyne said his ``blood would run cold'' before Senator Cory Bernardi achieved Liberal Party office.

The allegations are contained in a letter from MLC Angus Redford to former SA Liberal Party president Martin Cameron, sent on March 16, 1998, in which the author detailed an alleged conversation with Mr Pyne at a National Liberal Party Convention three days earlier.

Pyne's a fuckwit. How the people of Sturt keep re-electing this freak is beyond belief. Opportunistic little worm. He would get along well with fleas - they'll think he's their leader. If he's ever Minister for Education, I'm going on stress leave.
