When did we stop believing in Santa Claus

Post by HIGHERBEAM » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:09 pm

Back in the old days we all believed in Santa Claus and everything was right with the world, now no-one believes in Santa Claus and everything is F***** with this world. So why dont we just teach our children to believe in Santa Claus.

I was about 6 or 7, but played the part for quite a few years after that, then some years after this again, I distinctly recall being in QLD at my grandparents place hollering from my bedroom "Oh, I just cant wait to see how much money the tooth fairy left me" knowing my grandparents had forgotten to put put money in the glass with the tooth (I had already checked earlier that morning)..... when my aunty, 6 years older than me, smirked and said..."you are full of it you don't believe in the tooth fairy still you little liar".. anyway, we ended up splitting the proceeds...50/50

Because believing in Santa Claus and other mythical juju's (ie God) is what got us into this clusterfuck in the first place. There's no magic wand to make it right so we have to fix it ourselves and it would've been better if we didn't have fairy tales to fall back on in the first place.

This is political?

I stop believing when I was about 7 and when I asked the question got told the truth. Now this really disturbed me and effected my entire outlook on life and here is why.

From that moment on my bullshit meter was running, particularly adult bullshit and this lead me to disbelieve in a god.

1. You told me there was an easter bunny - It never made sense and then I found out you lied and you admitted it
2. You told me there was a tooth fairy - I liked that one but I found out you lied and you admitted it
3. You told there was a santa - I loved the presents but i found out you lied again and you admitted it.
4. You told me there was a god.... well fuck me... how stupid do you think I am. I looked into it and concluded you bullshitted me again and I decided to never listened to you again.
