Yup, here is a post I made on the other PA that is germaine. German and Frogen too.

Some where on this (the other PA) forum is a discussion between Ms. Machy and I (me and Ms. Mach would make for better alliteration) where we discuss the interview of Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan on Andrew Denton.

We both agreed he was charming and persuasive, the audience loved him, but we felt he was wrong.

He made a lot of statements I found extremely naïve, even though he was talking about his own country and I have never been there.

Such as the West is creating the terror by fighting it.

One thing he said was the terrorists would NEVER attack cricketers because they are loved in Pakistan.

WRONG!!!!!!

Today we hear of the Cricket team from Sri Lanka being attacked in Pakistan, including their Australian coach.

When are these feel-guud-it-is-all-our- own- fault- terrorists attack, they really do not mean it freaks going to get it?

Imran, should you EVER aspire to run for any office in Pakistan again don't, go back to playing with little balls.

I do not know a hell of a lot about Cricket but how long do you think it will be before another international Cricket team goes to Pakistan?

One thing is clear, Pakistan just signed an agreement with the Talaban ceding them autonomy in part of the east, the result, an attack that is both cowardly and will damage Pakistan writ large with decreased sport, business and travel.

You cannot negotiate with these barbarians, it only emboldens them.

I told you the Taliban arseholes are winning in Afghanistan, they are also winning in Pakistan according to you.

I am not saying shooting at a bus of cricketers is winning, unless we are so weak we let them take the country. I am not in the woe is me crowd.

I have always said struggles such as this are prolonged and tough, but not as hopeless as the weak Left makes them out to be.

I blame Pakistan, they have followed a strategy of negotiation (with simultaneous condemnation) for years now, and you can not negotiate with these groups, you have to go after them, bring the battle to them, in this case East Pakistan.

As Iraq proves, once you consistently go after them, relentlessly, they start to collapse and the populace in the areas they control which only supports them out of fear turns on them.

We have to deny them safe havens, and Pakistan has given them much of the eastern part of the country for years.

Actually we are talking about West Pakistan, we are in the wrong direction.

Pretty much like East Afghanistan, and we have been (by air) and will need to get Pakistan to seriously, on land, go fight there.

That attack on the cricketers was a win for the extremists! Like you said, it means no visiting cricket teams. Unbelievably to me, it means lots of people will be disappointed (think US w/o "World" series) and it will bring less tourism dollars related to cricket and tourism generally. A definite win to the extremists--these guys don't fight pitched battles you know!
