Heh, from one of the PA2 losers (in the Sandpit) I got this:
We can't prove conclusively that it is anthropogenic
So they have gone from "No global warming" to "it isn't anthropogenic."
So next summer, with temps over 50°C, they will abandon even that?

If there are no +50°C days next year, will you admit that global warming is a crock?
Or was it just a bullshit line, that you know you can get away with, because to call you on it is "politically incorrect"?
"But you will run your fluffy bunny mouth at me. And I will take it, to play poker."

It got to 48°C in Vic last week. Is 50°C such a jump?
Anyone can call me on anything, fuck PC!
But there has been a lot of information from BuMet, CSIRO re GW.

Don't confuse weather with climate. The hottest Aussie temperature happened in Queensland in 1889 when it reached 51 degrees celsius. We had severe heatwaves in the 1920s and 1930s. Shock horror, it gets hot in Australia, shock horror, shock shock.

I am not, Celetina. I made this very point in the post where I pulled apart the STUPID argument from PA2 about the snow & cold in London 'proved' GW wasn't happening. Since then I have seen CSIRO and BuMet say GW was real.
Even if next summer temps don't go over 25°C I won't say 'Oh, duh, global cooling is happening.'
I base my arguments on facts, on reason, tho sure in political terms I lean to the left. If you want to see 'unbalance' have a look at the crud your PA2 playmates like Sheepy & LOW_IQ spread around.

You base your arguments on being contrary to certain other people, nothing more.
You vote, you lose!

From PB:
However this right wing evasion-meme that the Victorian bushfires are due to greens and a lack of burning off has to be nipped in the bud.
I posted late last night an entry from Barry Brook’s excellent Brave New Climate blog that looks at the recent heatwave from a meteorlogical point of view. Quite simply the recent heatwave is unprecendented in Australian recorded history:
- for Adelaide the Jan / Feb 2009 heatwave was a 1 in 150,000 year event.
- the odds of all this happening from natural forcings alone are about 1 in 10 billion
- no other heatwave in Australian history has been as long, as intense or as widespread.

No doubt the Royal Commission will find that many things could have been done to reduce risks of bushfires and should eb done in the future, from limiting construction in high risk areas to checking on known arsonists as the SA Police sensibly did. But the fact remains that the weather conditions made this bushfire possible, and were so extreme that it was far worse than usual. We might have had fires without climate change, but they wouldn’t have been this bad. That fact needs to be faced.

I think it cannot be conclusively proven that climate change is anthropegenically caused. It is likely we have had some influence, but how much is the question. The ozone hole still bothers me in a major way. I am not seeing the signs of repair we were meant to be seeing. And i don't think the full consequences of ti have been understood or investigated.
