UK cold & snow PROVES GW, sorta

Hehehehe predictably, and probably copied from Andrew Dolt's blogs, people are making sheep of themselves saying the cold winter in the UK 'disproves' global warming.

Wonder if they remember HS geography, the Gulf Stream aka 'Atlantic Conveyor' current transferring water warmed in the Caribbean north along the US & Canadian coasts then across and down the coast of England. If they strain their little brains they might even remember that it is the warm water from this current that warms the UK & Northern Europe.

Now, apparently the Greenland & arctic ocean ice melting & flowing into the North Atlantic has reduced that current by 6%. Is it any wonder then that England is having a very cold winter? Does it disprove Global Warming? Only to sheep! To rational persons it would support the GW theory. Might even make them a bit worried.

Another way in which these people make themselves sheepish is drawing climatic conclusions out of one extreme season. We don't do it, not scientifically/statistically sound! Hydrologists and climatologists talk about 1 in a hundred or one in a thousand year storm or flood or heatwave or something, i.e. extreme events will occur, extremely rarely. If they occur more and more frequently we will really worry, esp since we KNOW the Atlantic Conveyor is being cut down by that polar fresh water.

It reminds me of the sheeple that bring out their "oh, isn't it hot" anecdotes to "prove" that global warming is a fact, actually

My understanding is that if climate change is for real and progresses to the point of no return then Northern Europe would become a frozen wasteland for "freasons" Jovial explained.

The latitude of London & Berlin lie in between those of Quebec & Anchorage, Alaska with Moscow a tad further north than that.

The Jet Stream is a wonderful thing. I have read in the current Time Magazine that it is ill. I am rooting for a quick recovery. Hurry up and get well as an Ice Cap isn't just something Frosty the Snowman wears on his head.

So it is Gawd who is warming the earth? half or more off the US believes that, I think? Kinda relieves people of the need to take responsibility eh? No need to change lifestyles or anything. Just pray to Gawd.
