Another Brit bank bailout
Another 50Bn pounds spent on bank bailouts in England. Royal bank of Scotland (royal again in being govt owned, i.e. owned by the crown.)
Wonder HM Lizzie lost on this little deal? (Or should that be Wonder HM HM Lizzie lost on this little deal?)
Be glad we don't have this particular shit happening here, thank, for a change, the burocrazies in charge regulating/monitoring banks. Hope like FUCK that the artificial CDOs don't cause conniptions here: they will soon on the international stage (or the probs they will cause, much bigger than the housing-related CDOs) might be swpet under the carpet, causing problems for the next 2-3 decades.
The wholesale bank guarantee has got us out of a lot of shit so far.

Re: Another Brit bank bailout
I hope Britain has better capping and transparency procedures than the U.S did. U.S taxpayers weren't too happy that bailout money was used as bonuses for CEOs. I assume British taxpayers would be equally unimpressed if that happens.
Re: Another Brit bank bailout
The banks and shareholders have had it good for so long. They have been irresponsible and careless with our money, made bad decisions but rewarded themselves with massive bonuses and now it's come back to bite them and we have to pay for their excesses. Unfortunately the governments have no choice.
Who knows if stricter regulations are going to be put in place? The banks might be cautious for a while, but will soon forget.

Brown pushed Blair out of office and now Brown, who claimed credit for the British economy most of Blair's time in office, now must, as PM, suffer the results of the economic melt down!
Who says democratic politics is not fair?

Re: Another Brit bank bailout
It was fun watching Dumb and Dumber brawl over which one of them was Britain's biggest idiot. What does Gordon Brown do again? All I ever see him do is talk about a new tax that he's going to slug on the British taxpayer. Time for UK Labour to go into the wilderness for a while and learn what reality is again.JW Frogen wrote:Brown pushed Blair out of office and now Brown, who claimed credit for the British economy most of Blair's time in office, now must, as PM, suffer the results of the economic melt down!
