A Queensland backbencher disgusted by the ouster of Kevin Rudd says Julia Gillard has helped persuade him to recontest the next election.
Member for Flynn Chris Trevor has announced he will stand again in his marginal central Queensland seat, after admitting he had considered quitting politics.
"Every man or woman has their tipping point. Kevin Rudd's demise was mine," he said.
"It is no secret that I think the way various factional bosses treated former prime minister Kevin Rudd was absolutely disgraceful.
"It's pretty disgraceful the way they have tried to destroy his character and his achievements since they got rid of him."
Mr Trevor said he wanted the attacks on Mr Rudd to stop.
He said he'd held talks with new Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer Wayne Swan, and was satisfied he could contribute to the party under their leadership.
