Mr Marks said recent struggles at the BBC, which has lost two senior executives over what the British broadcaster accepted was a "mistaken" edit of a speech by US President Donald Trump, carried "lessons" for the ABC.

But he repeated his defence of the ABC's Four Corners for its own coverage of the same speech, saying criticism seeking to link the two was "opportunistic and false".

"The faults were not consistent on both programs. I didn't accept that was legitimate criticism," he said.

The ABC also doctored videos of Australian troops firing from a helicopter in Afghanistan and it was online for 2 years before it was removed. They also recently doctored pictures of Lib Senator Jane Hume in order to mock her.

When will they be defunded? Why should taxpayers have to pay them $1.2 billion per year for this crap?
