Australian politics- PM speeches of note

Post by mellie » Mon Mar 17, 2025 11:29 am

This is a speech on reconciliation made by former PM John Howard that current PM Anthony Albanese would have done well to read before his failed "Voice "referendum, which had the superficiality of a new brand of designer sneakers.

It's such a shame that the Left refuses to embrace anything meaningful from those who successfully articulate the core issues we face here in Australia concerning a genuine reconciliation today.

https://pmtranscripts.pmc.gov.au/releas ... ript-10361

I'm imagining a cartoon of Albanese, wearing a shiny new brand of designer pro hi-top sneakers with the "V" slogan and graphic etched onto the outer sides of these sneakers 👟. "V" representing the "Voice".

Such superficiality was never going to appeal to a down-to-earth Australian people. Never!
The most insulted were Indigenous Australians themselves.

"Reconciliation will not work if it puts a higher value on symbolic gestures and
overblown promises rather than the practical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people in areas like health, housing, education and employment.

It will not work if it is premised solely on a sense of national guilt and shame. Rather
we should acknowledge past injustices and focus our energies on addressing the root
causes of current and future disadvantage among our indigenous people.
Nor will the reconciliation process work effectively if one of its central purposes
becomes the establishment of different systems of accountability and lawful conduct
among Australians on the basis of their race or any other factor."-

Part of a Speech concerning reconciliation by former PM John Howard 26/05/1997

So the concept of reconciliation isn't new, Albanese did however make such an insincere mess of his rendition of it, that I can't help but wonder if it was an intentional mess, lick-spittle, crocodile tears and all?

All he had to do was read and follow PM Howard's transcript and keep it real!

But something about Albo's version of reconciliation smelled off, for both Indigenous and non- Indigenous Australians.
Was it his overreaching fawning , apologies, and promises that had us all retching at the polls, or was it the palpable sense that he was screwing all Australians over, by placing Australians assets into the hands of third parties to sell off to others, apparently with Indigenous approval?
Or was it that we simply didn't understand what he was actually aiming to achieve by winning this tokinest prize .....of winning a referendum for his own political resume perhaps?

Whatever it was, it was smelly and just didn't live up to it's hype. Was all superficial nonsense without substance or even reason.

What is the reason for the reconciliation and what is it's purpose?

To place crown land into the hands of traditional owners, only for it to be swindled out of them from a 3rd party.
This way the government can't be held responsible for the inevitable corruption that follows.
To relinquish the government's duty of care towards Indigenous Australians. Health, Infrastructure, construction, are highly targeted areas for corruption world wide, it's basically creating another pathway for corrupt industries, individuals to purchase and develop , mine etc land that wouldn't otherwise be available for purchase in exchange for Indigenous communities supports and services, like schools, primary health care centres, hospitals and housing.

" I would like to focus on corruption, with all its faces. The face of foreign agents trying to influence our political system. The face of shady companies or foundations abusing public money. We must also eradicate corruption at home. That is why we will present measures to update our legislative framework for fighting corruption. It erodes trust in our institutions. So, we must fight back with the full force of the law.

President Ursula von der Leyen, 2022 State of the Union speech

High-risk areas of corruption in the EUA mapping and in-depth analysis

Publication metadata

Corruption encompasses a vast collection of abusive, subversive and sometimes violent crimes that harm virtually all portions and levels of society. It radiates outward from the initial act to damage public institutions, companies, communities and families. Eventually, corruption touches and affects people personally – whether it is obvious or not. Corruption is estimated to cost the EU up to EUR990 billion per year – more than enough to end world hunger and provide electricity, safe water and sanitation to everyone everywhere. Given the scale of the problem, it is understandable that two-thirds of EU citizens and EU-based companies believe corruption is widespread in their country. Citizens' views on corruption have remained unchanged for the past two decades, indicating most Europeans are unsatisfied with official actions to stop it, or corruption is not declining – or both. To advance the EU's Anti-Corruption Strategy to combat corruption and reduce its harm to society, this report maps high-risk areas and provides an in-depth analysis of the nature of and reasons behind these risks.

Crazy isn't it. To think that .....

"Corruption is estimated to cost the EU up to EUR990 billion per year – more than enough to end world hunger and provide electricity, safe water and sanitation to everyone everywhere."

And to think, some people actually kid themselves and believe we live in a civilised world 🌎, when EU corruption itself, costs citizens EUR 990 billion per year, enough to end worldwide poverty.

I think corruption in Australia would have similar figures, in terms of percentages, not the same amount of $$$$ course, so with this in mind, if we were to base these figures in Australian terms, for comparisons sake, what is corruption costing Australians?

More concerningly, where and to whom is it going?

The Albanese government anyway.

Thank God it didn't pass.

Excellent!
Today in Tasmania Dutton spoke with passion, conviction and certainty when he held a press conference concerning Tasmania's Salmon and forestry industries and Tasmania's businesses in general.

This is exactly what we need.

Just need a little more authority in there, and to keep hammering this home.

Labor are corrupt, spend recklessly with dismal regard and contempt for all Australians, and Australian businesses , withhold important figures, make laws for some and not others, are wrecking balls.

TV adds need to be direct and hard hitting.

Will this become the election issue or do both main parties want to keep this quiet?

Uncertainty over Australian Abrams tanks donated to Ukraine.
In short:

Operations have stalled at a logistics hub in Poland which is soon expected to receive Australian Abrams tanks donated to Ukraine's war effort.

European figures say President Donald Trump's recent suspension of military aid has jeopardised work at the facility, but Defence insists the transfer is "ongoing".
One American official, who asked for anonymity so they could speak freely, claimed the US government last year cautioned Australia against donating the aging tanks because of the logistical expense and difficulties around maintaining the vehicles inside Ukraine.
Government sources have confirmed Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umierov was scheduled to fly into Canberra this week as the pre-election budget is handed down, but his visit has been delayed due to other urgent travel commitments.

Ask yourself, what position is China taking in this war effort, and Israel/ Philistine war?
China's watching the west bleed-out and go broker, the broker Australia becomes, the more money we need to borrow and more dependent upon other nations we become.

Trump realises this, which is why he's pulling in the spending reigns the US Liberals let loose.

Instead of playing war games, our government needs to start taking care of Australians first.

In every way.

If this means saying no for a spell, including the UN, then we must inorder to get our own economy back on track.

Comrade Prime minister

Book overview
New Zealand author Trevor Loudon has conducted a deep dive into the communist affiliations of the current Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. In Comrade Prime Minister, Trevor Loudon meticulously excavates Albanese's previously-hidden forty year alliance with the tiny - but extremely influential - Australian revolutionary movement.

From his involvement in militant student activism during his time at the University of Sydney, to his current choice of personnel and policy direction, Prime Minister Albanese consistently follows the "line" of the former Communist Party of Australia (CPA) and its even more dangerous successor, the Sydney-based SEARCH Foundation.

Albanese has been propelled to prominence by influential Australians whose true allegiance belongs to Moscow, Beijing, and Havana, not Australia.

As the General Election approaches, Trevor Loudon's Comrade Prime Minister - backed by 46 pages of references and direct communist and socialist sources - exposes the true Anthony Albanese. Throughout his decades-long career, many of the Prime Minister's closest comrades have worked in the interests of Russia, China, Iran, Cuba and various "Third World" revolutionary movements and regimes.

Does Prime Minister Albanese really have Australia's best interests at heart?
