Australian nationalist, 20, has his bank account shut down due to his political views

A young Australian nationalist with no criminal history has been “debanked” due to his political views.

Melbourne man Michael Nelson, 20,
received a letter from Bendigo Bank on Friday informing him that his account would be closed in 21 days, citing a clause in their terms and conditions.

“As a result of a recent internal review conducted by the Bank and careful consideration, we have determined that we are unable to continue providing you with banking and financial services. This decision has been made in order to protect the Bank’s legitimate interests,” read the letter, which was unsigned.

The relevant clause, 16.4, states that the bank may close an account at any time due to “unsatisfactory conduct”, which it says includes behaviour that is “defamatory, harassing, threatening to any person”, or “promotes or encourages physical or mental harm of any person”.

Mr Nelson, a member of right-wing activist group the National Socialist Network, said it was the first account he has had shut down, but that he was not surprised because many of his friends had experienced the same thing.

“We have a system that forces us to have no independence over what we earn, declare everything we earn to the government, pay taxes upon taxes on everything you make, buy, sell, and keep your oh-so-precious savings in a privately owned Jewish-run bank that partakes in evil parasitic behavior (usury), all whilst paying a monthly fee to use their services. And all this so they can kick you to the curb the second you decide to stray away from their groupthink!” he wrote in response on social media.

In the UK:
In June 2023 British bank Coutts closed the account of now-Reform UK leader Nigel Farage after deciding his values “did not align” with the bank’s, saying, “at best he is seen as xenophobic and pandering to racists, and at worst, he is seen as xenophobic and racist”.

Maybe give it some thought instead of playing it off as hypervigilant government surveillance. If this nationalist was posting throughout social media his views that genuinely make threats of violence and intimidation tactics, it is not out of the ordinary for a bank and even employment agencies to go and disassociate themselves from you.

People also lose job opportunities for what they post on facebook. It is not difficult for people to work out that if you have views that go against moral and legal standards, you are going to lose out.

Sex workers, adult shops and gun businesses say they are being denied banking services

By business reporter Rhiana Whitson
Posted Tue 12 Oct 2021

When Simon Mawson and his partner Monique Turmine bought an established adult shop in 2018, they could not get business accounts and payment facilities from the major banks.
Key points:

Banks are denying services to legally operating businesses
A former small business ombudsman says banks should not be the "moral arbiter"
Changes to state and territory laws and the banking code would provide protections for businesses

"The ANZ, the lady who we were dealing with, actually said, 'You know, it's most likely because of the industry that you're trying to finance,'" Mr Mawson said.

Instead, the broker they were working with advised them to sign up with a friendlier, smaller financial institution. The bank does not have branches or ATMs.

The couple have also been denied personal and car loans since owning the business.

"It's frustrating. Our industry is a completely different place to what it was 50 years ago. There's a huge focus on health and wellbeing, and on education," Mr Mawson said.

"We are not doing anything illegal; our money is as good as other businesses."

The adult shop owners' experience of struggling to get basic banking services is not an isolated case.

NAB is the only bank that is upfront about not providing services to particular industries. A spokesman confirmed the bank did not provide banking services to brothels, but said it did provide services to some sex workers. CBA said it assessed applications for services on a case-by-case basis.

But the associations for sex workers, the adult industry and gun shops told the ABC that in practice, their members were routinely discriminated against when applying for financial services. Typically, they said, they were told their business was high risk, but most were refused services without any explanation.

And so they should. Especially me. Do you know the amount of crimes that other people have been thwarted in committing because the police were monitoring me?

Earth to Bobby. They deny people who have formerly been heroin addicts to give blood that is in desperate need of donors.
