gillard boasts of flushing $16 billion

Post by sprintcyclist » Thu Mar 25, 2010 11:36 am

and that's YOUR money, leftards. Oh, if you have a job that is.

JULIA Gillard says she is open to tightening the guidelines of her $16 billion schools building program but has passionately defended its role in sparing Australia from a devastating recession.

And while the Deputy Prime Minister has called for vigilance from states rolling out the program to avoid waste, she has stressed that blowouts have been rare and denied the existence of price gouging.

Ms Gillard expressed deep pride in the Building the Education Revolution program yesterday as she used an interview with The Australian to emphatically reject claims it has become mired in waste..........

Creative title, Sprint, well done

Frankly, I'm fine with throwing money at schools, insulation, renewable energy incentives, etc. What really pissed me off about the stimulus packages, was throwing my hard earned tax money at consumers to go out and waste on consumer goods. The Western habit of living beyond our means is what started this global recession, and what is the first thing every bloody government does? Yeah, throw money at people and say "spend up, on any old shite, we'll worry about paying for it later". Disgraceful

Never heard so much creative crap before this! If it wasn't for the money spend, things would have been bad, like other countries.
What do you do with your money? Hoard it for someone else to enjoy when you kick the bucket?

What, like those other countries that also had huge stimulus packages, but still went into recession regardless? China bought us out of it.

Save it until I have enough for what I want. Never borrowing more than I can comfortably repay, even considering the likelihood of shit luck in the medium future. The need to forever have to buy more and more stuff that you can't afford is a blight on society, the economy and the environment.

If the government wanted to throw money around to stimulate the economy, the least they could do is throw it at something productive, something that will improve the country into the future, rather than throwing it at fat-bodies to waste on wide screens and booze.

You have a few good points Boxy.At the same time TV sets are not exclusively for fat people.
But we did OK didn't we? What do you expect a government to do? Do a Howard, wait until we go belly up before they act?
What do you suggest they did?
Stop complaining and see what you can do for your Country (JFK speak)

Still blaming John Howard, Stinks? Let it go. He's gone now, he won't hurt you anymore.

Gillard seems awfully proud of blowing all that money for unions and Labor-affiliated companies to benefit from. She's a true commie - suffer the children.

I've already said what I think they should have done, throwing it all at schools, insulation, renewable energy incentives, etc., nation building stuff. They can include improving the rail infrastructure too. We need to get as much freight as possible off the roads and onto rolling stock.

Glad to see you approve of taxpayer money being used to make the rich richer.

Now, now. Spending money inevitably makes the rich richer. What I based it on though, was things that improve the country for everyone. People will always profit off govt spending in capitalist societies.
