Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says it is “quite clear” Bill Shorten “wants to go back to his old job and Anthony Albanese is a little bit concerned about that”.

“Most people in the Labor Party and certainly everybody in the Liberal Party still think Bill Shorten wants the job,” Mr Clennell said.

“That’s the view out there, that Bill hopes he can do a Lazarus rising on it – which is very very unlikely.”

Former Labor leader Bill Shorten joined Anthony Albanese on Wednesday to defend Labor’s climate policy going into the 2019 federal election and urge the government against complacency.

Mr Clennell said “it was quite clear in the press conference that Bill Shorten was still a little bit hurt by the election result”.
