Why I will not vote for who I usually vote for .....

Post by sprintcyclist » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:01 pm

... because they gave $444M of my money to 'The Great Barrier Reef Foundation'. There was no tender process and no discussion.

I also received an email from them headed by an immature comment.

That was Turncoat who gave away all that money to the GBRF ... I think Lucy, his missus, asked him to. ;) I did NOT vote Coalition in 2016 and Turncoat actually lost 1 million conservative voters ... I am still not convinced that Morrison is a real conservative, rather a "progressive" liberal.

I have checked who I would be able to vote for in my Electorate.

ALP
Greens
Liberal
Independent - who is a lawyer and calls himself a "social entrepreneur", whatever that means.

I might just turn up and get my name marked off the Rolls, or not bother and await the AEC bill for 20 bucks.

Your choices are certainly very limited. Are other parties to scared to run in Canberra?

That was what the AEC listed as candidates but I just checked Antony Green's site and he has listed a different lot. No better but .....

Australian Labor Party
Liberal Party
Greens
Australian Progressives
United Australia Party

He also says that it is a safe ALP electorate and notes that EACH Federal election since 1974 it has been won by the ALP. Why waste a vote? :rofl

The only way it will remain an ALP seat is if you don't vote or you vote for them by way of preferences.

Bennelong was always a safe Liberal seat too until the ALP did a mass smear campaign mail out targeting the Chinese and aimed at Howard. Maxine McKew won the seat but she didn't last long.

Here you go. Scroll down the page for the full details. https://www.abc.net.au/news/elections/ ... uide/fenn/

Canberra has 2 Senators and we are smart enough to have 1 Liberal and 1 ALP. ;) I voted for Zed Seselja (Lib Senator) last election. Didn't vote for Turncoat (or anyone) in the HoR though. A neighbour (who is a Greenie from way back) told me that Zed, apparently, is anti-abortion. My reply, I am too old to worry about abortions. She also reckons she is going to buy an electric car (for $42,000) and "plug it into the power point" in her garage ... thus putting the rest of the street in a nightly blackout, no doubt. :rofl She is 87, so probably shouldn't be driving around anyhow. :rofl

You want to talk about inside contracts and wasting money… Peter Dutton paid Paladin Group $422 million for less than two years work on Manus. $1600/refugee/day, before food and services, pays staff $2ph. The company’s registered to beach shack on Kangaroo Island, in order to avoid being subpoenaed.

"The Australian Financial Review has reported that Paladin Group’s $420m of contracts to provide security to refugees on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea was extended by the home affairs department in January after a closed tender process.

On Sunday the attorney general, Christian Porter, defended the home affairs minister Peter Dutton, who has said he had “no sight” of the tender process. Porter told ABC’s Insiders that “standard procurement processes are often at arms-length from the minister”."
