KAMBO’S—the prominent WA white goods retailer—has gone into administration.

Owned by well-known WA businessman Peter Kambouris, the home appliance and electronic store at one stage boasted numerous outlets across the Perth metropolitan area.

It also owns the upmarket Liebe + Haus outlets in Osborne Park and Myaree, which were both closed on Saturday.

Kambo’s is believed to employ around 120 workers and was once voted the country’s number one electrical store, according to its own marketing.

Mr Kambouris, who did not return calls on Saturday, has been a long-time critic of Sunday penalty rates and had championed revamped industrial relations laws to guarantee local retailers could thrive in softer economic conditions.

He has also fought against offshore retailers who “either push their profits offshore or don’t have their operations in Australia. They do not contribute the same levels of tax to the Australian people or have the same work conditions that Australian retailers do”.
