Annastacia Palaszczuk's bush demolition

Post by Outlaw Yogi » Thu Jul 14, 2016 2:21 pm

Back in the mid 2000s Peter Beattie introduced tree clearing bans in Qld.
When Campbell Newman became Premier he abolished Beattie's bans.
During Newman's reign the tree cover in Qld increased. Everyone felt safe.
Now Qld Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is introducing even stricter tree clearing bans, because Koala habitat around Brisbane is being bull-dozed for housing developments, so Anna & Co have decided to impress urban ferals by preventing people in the bush exercising their freehold title rights of choosing what they do with their own private property.

Well Anna, you're making some serious blunders here. Note blunders as in plural.

For a start .. I bought my freehold property and rather than clearing it, I grew a forest, by keeping it unstocked. Now you imagine you can lay claim to my 20+ year investment. Sorry Anna but if you want to make sure I never cut my trees for money or a house frame you'll have to buy them at the same rate a saw mill would pay me for them. And when/if any of them become a safety hazard, it'll be your responsibility to remove it.

Every year I receive a land resources valuation from Dept Natural Resources & Mines, and the council uses that valuation to asses their land rate charges.

If you (Anna & Co) steal my trees you're negatively affecting both the resources and market values of my private property, and so by rights you are obliged to compel the council to reduce my land rates charges.

Now here's you're biggest blunder.
Q: What do you think is going to happen when Labor loses govt in Qld?
A: The Nationals (now LNP) will rescind your tree clear bans, then the bull-dozers and chainsaws will be running hot. Bush will be cleared to make paddocks just in case, because it may be the last opportunity to plan for future projects.

And when those bull-dozers and chainsaws are running hell for leather I'll do my utmost to make sure it's recognised as Annastacia Palaszczuk's legacy - "Palaszczuk's bush demolition"

I thought these regulations only applied to native vegetation or protected regrowth (i.e. regrowth where you received public funds granted for biodiversity conservation purposes). From what you described, it would seem to me like you do not have either?

What you think/thought is now out-dated. Before I bought my property it was already selectively logged. For your information, my trees are native and regrowth.

My trees are Iron Bark, Spotted Gum, Ash (worth money), Bloodwood, Casuarina/She Oak and Apple Gum (worthless).

Turns out (according to a Wood-cutter/logger) what I thought are Apple Gum are actually Swamp Mahogany [same type of bark].

Not that it matters because Palaszczuk's efforts to woo Greens voters lest Deputy Premier Jacky Trad lose her seat has all been in vain. The Aboriginal MP Billy Gordon, Palaszczuk booted from Labor but couldn't evict from Qld Parliament due to an ex's allegations of domestic violence, and the Katter crew won't back the clearing bans.

I would expect a tree called Swamp Mahogany would require a fair bit of water, which suggests despite looking dry, one hill side covered in mostly this type of tree must have a good volume of water running under it. Not that surprising though, I suspect there's 3 under-ground streams running through my block.
One is pretty close to where a (supposed) water diviner says it is.

We had 300 acres on the north coast of NSW. When we moved back to Sydney it was supposed to be temporary and my ex leased the house.

I got a call from a neighbour one night asking me if we were logging the property. It was well forested and had only been selectively logged many many many years before.

I dropped everything and drove up there and found our land totally razed. Totally!!! Every tree on the 300 acres was gone and the property was littered with just stumps and strewn with the crowns. It was devastating and I cried for months. Totally ruined and, to make matters worse, we had no recourse.

The bitch made tens upon tens of thousands of dollars by selling the timber. The lumber yards did NOT check for ownership and we had no recourse.

"No recourse" sounds like the cops refusing to do their job.
EDIT ADDITION - I assume you had photos of your property prior to being clear-felled?
I would have had her charged with theft of private property (larceny) and applied for criminal compensation, for both the timber and cost of reforestation.
With criminal compensation the state foots the bill and chases the thief for the money pretty much forever.
