Indonesia spy crap..

Post by Rorschach » Wed Nov 20, 2013 10:03 am

LW progressives sure do post a lot of crap, and it is obvious that the LW prog media are trying to hurt the current government, with the release of this information months after they had it. Could the election have been a deciding factor?

1/ Indonesia spies on us.
2/ This incident occurred under Labor.
3/ The information was sat on by the LW media for months... obviously they didn't want it released during the election or earlier.
4/ The ABC are obviously trying to make an issue of it to hurt Abbott, his government and the border protection policy.
5/ You'd think it's charter would prevent such a thing happening.
6/ If the issue creates problems in our relationship with Indonesia, then the border/boat policy will take a hit.
7/ The Corby threat shows just how immature, vindictive, stupid and spiteful the Indonesians are.
8/ We share intelligence with the Indonesians.
9/ We give them large amounts of aid.
10/ We help them during emergencies.
11/ They do not return such aid and help with any real form of reciprocation.
12/ They allow boat people into their country and do very little to prevent them leaving on Indonesian boats crewed by Indonesians for Australia. They expect us to clean up the mess
13/ The issue arose when signals were attempting to collect information from the new 3G communications system, this could have been simply a test period of some kind. Why would they even bother tapping the President's wife's phone for intelligence?
14/ All countries have a policy of silence, neither confirm nor deny policy re intelligence gathering.
15/ China, Indonesia and the US have all been caught spying on us in recent times and we have not made a big song and dance about it like these drips.
16/ Maybe they are more sensitive about it because the elections are coming up.

Personally... I'm over it.
Apparently Emma was being very political and pointed last night on Lateline I missed that, but the night before Leigh Sales (7:30) was being just that, trying hard to get an Indonesian official to criticise the government and Abbott... he refused to be drawn, but she really did try.

If the ABC doesn't understand or care that it is creating an International political/diplomatic situation, due to it's political bias then someone needs to step in and shut them up.

You've spent too much time listening to Alan Jones. I heard some of this garbage earlier today and Jones' demands that some bloke running the place should be sacked immediately.

We heard so much crap about the Labor Government while they were in power - why shouldn't the Coalition expect similar treatment? Are we all supposed to shut up and just let the government do their own thing in secrecy?

So even if this is true - there is a new government in charge now who should at least be trying to repair this situation diplomatically. Why wouldn't someone in the Abbott government try to heal this rift with our neighbours regardless of who's responsible?
4/ The ABC are obviously trying to make an issue of it to hurt Abbott, his government and the border protection policy.

It was never going to work anyway besides Abbott hasn't even started implementing his buy back scheme - so any signs of the boats slowing down would be as a result of the PNG solution.

So what should we do? Tell them to piss off and then ignore them? How many Muslims in Indonesia - 100 plus million?
12/ They allow boat people into their country and do very little to prevent them leaving on Indonesian boats crewed by Indonesians for Australia. They expect us to clean up the mess
They are a poor country. How are they supposed to stop the flow if we can't do it successfully?

Who knows why? It was probably a US initiative. They've expanded their intelligence at Pine Gap specifically for keeping an eye on our Asian neighbours.

So even if this is true - there is a new government in charge now who should at least be trying to repair this situation diplomatically. Why wouldn't someone in the Abbott government try to heal this rift with our neighbours regardless of who's responsible? The Indonesians for whatever reason are being childish and hypocritical. If it was me I'd probably have a private conversation (not that you can trust Indonesia these days to not use the megaphone diplomacy they so disliked us using) and say it was a test and the tapping of his wife's phone was regrettable. But that's me.

Ah... it is working and I have no reason to doubt it will work even better in the future. There is no PNG solution BTW.

So what should we do? Tell them to piss off and then ignore them? Interesting idea. How many Muslims in Indonesia - 100 plus million? So? Currently we have military superiority and the US as an ally.
12/ They allow boat people into their country and do very little to prevent them leaving on Indonesian boats crewed by Indonesians for Australia. They expect us to clean up the mess
They are a poor country. Not that poor. How are they supposed to stop the flow if we can't do it successfully? Honestly... don't let them in in the first place might be a start... most come in via their airports. They were letting people come in without visas. They know who they are. Their corrupt police are part of the problem. They know who the people smugglers are. They know where most of the boats come from. They profit from the business in the millions perhaps they appreciate the extra income. We gave them boats and instead of using them for this they used them on the other side of Indonesia for fishing protection.

Who knows why? I just told you why. It was probably a US initiative. They've expanded their intelligence at Pine Gap specifically for keeping an eye on our Asian neighbours. Good on them.

Still haven't answered the question, why should Indonesia protect Australian borders.
Your answer only supplies why Australia should protect its own borders.
Name calling only serves to emphasise your lack of intelligence.

You should be getting used to the name calling on this forum DaS, although admittedly I haven't. It is difficult to eradicate.

In regard to Indonesia protecting our borders - good question. If they have to deal with our arrogant primeminister - they're not going to do us any favours.

Most of the Indonesians don't want thousands of refugees cluttering up their shores so what good reason do they have for stopping the smugglers? If they stop them, then they'll have to deal with this very expensive humanitarian problem and after all these asylum seekers are only using Indonesia as a stopover - their destination is Australia.

Abbott needs to start behaving like a statesman and co-operating - not just pander to the redneck vote.

I fully agree. Though I have doubts it will occur. Politicians on the out as many many now are cant change themselves from viewing the punter as illiterate and solely reliant on them for information. A simple mouse click confirms their honesty or deceit!

Honestly you post crap... Abbott, Abbott, Abbott... if you can't control your personal bias just STFU mantra...
you make negative ad hom statements with nothing except your hate to back them up and you wonder why people think you have no credibility.

Well don't you take the cake for idiocy...

No one's asking them to protect out borders you fool.
But we do expect them not to act criminally against us and respect our sovereignty as we are expected by them, to do for them.
