Monk flames Abbott for placing himself in the line of fire

FOR 14 long hours over the weekend, Tony Abbott was just one of 1392 anonymous, sooty-faced firefighters battling to keep the relentless NSW bushfires at bay.
His favoured white-shirt-blue-tie combo was swapped for yellow overalls as Australia's 28th prime minister joined his Davidson RFS brigade on a back-burning operation in Bilpin, near the Blue Mountains, for a night shift that began at 6pm Saturday and finished at 8am yesterday.
If not for a couple of photos circulating on Twitter, it's a fair chance that Mr Abbott's weekend exploits would have gone unnoticed.

Not to be outdone by our resident fireman Monk the keyboard RFS voluntere he claims he was on his friendsoftheleft facebook page where he posted pics of actual volunteers from his local community, engaing in the type of meaningful stuff our PM Tony Abbott does.

8-) .... Jelous much Monk?

:rofl

Monk, I am absolutely gob-smacked you would berate Tony for being a RFS vollunteer, given you claim to have been such yourself on your FB page.

Volunteers dont smear volunteers, theres a mutual respect and sense of comeradery... (something you clearly lack) which tells me you fight virtual forum spot-fires from your keyboard... not actual fires the way our PM Abbott does.

Yes - it probably is a bit unfair rubbishing Abbott because he's fighting fires. Is he actually fighting them or just helping on the sidelines? It would be terrible if he was enveloped by a fireball.

He's probably doing what he has been trained to do, which is specialist breathing apparatus etc.

That Monk, the elderly fucking pedophile would disparage the man for doing what he has done for 13 fucking years shows you the type of man Monk is- a spineless xxxx and xxxx.

Helping with backburning apparently.

He gave 13 hours of himself over the weekend.

NOBODY would have known that Tony did his usual volunteering with the NSW Rural Fire Service (Davidson Branch) until some female noticed he was there and took a shot with her phone and posted it on Facebook or whatever.

I am not sure that the AFP Security people would have been too pleased but .... Tony Abbott is not about how important he might be, he is about how important AUSTRALIA is. A nice bloke, going about his life as he has always done ....... but ..... as Prime Minister, I really think that Tony should at least TRY to consider the "security" of himself and his family ... there are Leftard Nutters out there!

I think Mr Abbott will make certain he is not in danger as he knows Australia desperately needs him to stop the waste, fix the budget emergency, stop the boats, and keep Australia open for business with the adults in charge. We can rely on his very good judgement to selfishly make sure he is never in harm's way.

I don't get your comment Neferti! It sounds like Phil is looking out for Abbott's interests.

If Abbott is doing 14 hour stints as a firefighter - that is lost time as a prime minister - the job he's paid to do. I believe most of the other firefighters are doing it on a voluntary basis, but Abbott is doing it on a prime minister's salary.

It is not essential that he's on the ground. He might be more useful visiting these horrific scenes and giving some comfort to the victims who have lost everything. That is what prime ministers usually do.
