Abbott's "token" woman

Post by mantra » Tue Sep 17, 2013 9:00 am

We could see it coming - a cabinet bereft of women aside from the crone Julie Bishop. Gillard had it spot on when she accused Abbott of being a misogynist. Instead we have a government full of ageing men.

Abbott says ""Nevertheless there are some very good and talented women knocking on the door of the Cabinet and there are lots of good and talented women knocking on the door of the ministry." He should have added - "but we're not going to answer the door".

Former Liberal senator Judith Troeth said the Coalition boasted women capable and suitable for promotion to the federal Cabinet, but men had "an innate fear of capable women at that level".

Image
AUSTRALIAN of the Year Ita Buttrose has lashed out at the fact Tony Abbott's new Cabinet only contains one woman, saying it is unacceptable in 2013 and proves a glass ceiling still exists in Australia.

The prime minister-elect unveiled his ministerial line up yesterday, with the only woman in his 19-strong cabinet being Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop.

The lack of women in the top echelon of his government has been condemned by the opposition, and even by some within Mr Abbott's own party.

That token woman—has damaged very, very badly our most important relationship, that with Indonesia. the mind boggles as to what they will do once sworn in!

Bye bye NBN, bye bye low unemployment, interest and inflation, bye bye 3 x AAA!Bye bye 22 years uninterrupted growth! Hello recession!

Yes - the NBN will go on principle. It will probably cost almost as much to get out of the contracts as it will to continue with them. Abbott has made many promises which he will be determined to fulfill even after economic reports say that our economy is deteriorating. He will pay for his promises to his wealthy mates by increasing taxes to the ordinary worker. The ruckus with Indonesia will leave a big scar. We have always placated them for the simple reason that they have such a large Muslim population and some of their armaments are superior to ours.

..............................

It seems that even some of the former Liberal ministers are sexist also. This snippet by Vanstone.....

"I know the Gillard government had more women in it. Well, I tell you what, that is not good example of good government. Don't hold that up as an exemplar of where we ought to go," she told ABC radio.

"I say that not to say the women were to blame, it's a collective responsibility, a government.

"But what I do say is more women doesn't necessarily make it a better government.

Vanstone is a fat idiot! She should reflect on the fact she could serve out her term as Ambassador to Italy (and Fisher his terms as ambassador to the Holy See.

The Gillard govt was a great reforming govt that passed radical reforms like the Carbon Price, like Plain Packaging and kept the economy ticking over. Some mistakes, sure, like the surplus promise but at least that was ditched when declining revenues kept undermining the surplus.

Face it, in 3 years and from a position of minority govt and having the termite working behind her back Gillard did more in three years than Howard did in twelve.

The Carbon Price will survive the simian. The NBN will keep running out at least until the contracts run out. Turncoat then has to decide:

1. Does he kill the NBN and do nothing, basically, about Fraudband? Possibly his best option, with some cherry picking FTTH/N by his business pals. Huge pain at the next election tho.

2. Does he roll out #Fraudband—he will enter a world of pain with this, for all the reasons I have argued here, or

3. Does he continue rolling out the NBN, or challenge the simian who will be eminently shaky in 6–12 months?

Indonesia is our largest near neighbor, and does increasing amounts of trade with us and Aust. businesses are investing more and more in Indonesia. That is why we need good relationships with Indonesia.

The ALP completely and utterly fucked up Indo relations with Kevni and his Viking refos and then the live trade debacle.

Completely incompetent, the Indos will welcome dealing with an adult government.

You really live in your own world, don’t you? Not surprising, the real world is pretty harsh to you.

Your mob have OFFENDED the Indonesians greatly. The Indos got their Independence in 1949, they RESENT the neocolonialist crap the simian and the token woman have come out with. They better grovel pretty damn hard to repair their STUPID mistake!

The mind boggles as to what harm they will do to our relationship with China!

Live trade should cease altogether. It is a cruel and inhumane practise just for a few lousy dollars.

The Indonesians are just about to spend billions of dollars here to buy a large tract of land to raise cattle for themselves to send back home. Will Abbott allow this - or put a stop to it?

If he allows it - then the Indonesians won't need our trade anyway and they won't have to pay tax simply because they are feeding their people. The same applies to any food stuff produced here and owned by the Chinese, Koreans, Indians and Arabs.
