NSW to consider chemical castration for child sex offenders

Post by Neferti » Sun Aug 11, 2013 5:32 pm

Chemical castration is among the alternative sentencing options for child sex offenders to be considered by a New South Wales parliamentary committee.

It is being set up by NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell to investigate whether current sentencing is effective, and to try to restore public confidence in the legal system.

It comes after a man was given a three-year behaviour bond for raping his daughter.
Good idea!!!

Isn't there some evidence that castration isn't as effective as proponents make it out to be ... that castrated offenders instead turn to alternatives.
